While not Easter Eggs this still doesn't really top the biggest asshole teams in gaming history, when Croteam developed Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. The First Encounter had stuff like this as well, but not nearly to the frequency of Second Encounter. Places that aren't out of the way at all, but contain like one health vial or one armor shard. When you pick 'em up, what happens Oop, 10 big and heavy enemies, if not more.

In all the souls games i think there is an item that makes you weaker and thats it. In Elden ring, the reward at the end of a fairly hidden quest at the volcano manor is a talisman that, wait for it, makes you take double damage. Most people use it as a hard mode modifier but for all the people thinking they would get a cool reward for googling an obtuse questline it's a major troll.

Pre demon souls was Kings Field and your number 1 spot had a set of rooms like that like a three deep secret doors. What’s super messed up in that game is when you’re checking for hidden doors around the world sometimes spikes just shoot out and stab you I think you can survive it late game but I remember dying to the crap a lot.

should give people a gun they can equip and use, but put no ammo in the game. The most you can do is pull the trigger and hear a click. Make them think there is a possibility that there might be ammo somewhere in the game. even add HUD elements that show the ammo count when it is equipped just to really sell it

Sotn Secret Boots, where a measurement gone wrong and the group where split into two, thinking how tall Alucard should've been, also, it nullify modern TVs in theory. So then wanted the option to be there - looks on behalf of the cost of power. Troll or not, it was devs that could not decide upon it.

HA! Joke is on you game! I went to work while waiting an hour for the door to open in High on Life. When I got back tho, had no idea what happened. Thought there was a penalty for waiting too long to perhaps troll people who thought like me, which would be clever. But no.

My favorite easter egg troll, was finding hundreds upon hundreds of water chips in Vault 8 of Fallout 2. Then, finding out that all of Vault 13's water chips were accidentally sent to Vault 8. over 20 years, and I still crack up about it.

There is a catwalk in Fallout 3 in a factory you need to drop to. It is a short corner with lvl75 locked doors on either end. I rushed to max my lockpicking and came back after a few days. Both doors opened to FU brick walls.
