far cry 5 was the nail in the coffin for me. i am never buying another ubisoft game again it's so clear as day how bad their games are now.
borderlands 2 is great. 3 was whatever and tiny tina was more of the same just and i m pretty much over the entire franchise.
rage 1 was better than 2.
i never played RDR2 because i m scared it's going to disappoint me and im also not a rockstar GTA fanboy so my opinion is not as bias as most people i feel.
openworld games have so many issues most of them feel super repetitive.
Crysis isn't even open world. and why is elden ring not on this list the best open world game ever made.
world of warcraft could have been on this list too. most these games are super forgettable.
i played just cause 3 for the first time last year and absolutely hated it it felt extremely outdated and arcady which isn't good because i played much older games that don't feel outdated nor arcady.
metro exodus is just bad i couldn't last longer than 2 hours with how terrible the writing was.
developers have so much left to learn still.

You guys always leave out the most obvious things when you do these videos.
It would really help if you pointed out that Farcry 5 was updated for both PS5 and Series X and runs at dynamic 4k 60 and also that Fallout New Vegas is backwards compatible with Xbox Series X and S opening it up to many more players than just 360 or PS3 on console.
You can leave the money on the fridge for payment.
I am sure some viewers will know what that refers to
As for Mad Max again no mention that it is not only playable on Series X but it is also quadruple the framerate and runs at 120 fps completely transforming this game on console.
Even Crysis series, you left out Both PS5 and Series X or even that the game was re-released even on PC
Prey Seres X not only has the 1440p enhanced Xbox one X code base but also runs at 60 fps.
Days Gone - 4k 60 on PS5 yet no mention of it lol
Were you guys drunk when you did this list or something as the platform information is way out of date.
At least you got platforms for GTA 5 correct lol.

I took notice on this and other videos, that games that get the most love are 3rd person open world. I refuse to call them shooters cause not all of them are about shooting. In some AC games, you must upgrade your ship, explore the seas and quest on land and sea.
In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, i am using mods to make me neutral with the weaker enemies, such as raiders, fiends, etc. Questing and diplomacy are extremely entertaining. Ghost Recon Wildlands, Breakpoint and Future Warrior are great open world 3rd person games. I still need to get into Mad Max. Days Gone rocks in so many levels. Add just one small mod from the Nexus. It's called Unlimited Throwables. The name says it all. The Tomb Raider reboot 3 games are also great open world in 3rd person. Can't play without situational awareness: )

I also have to shout out 7 Days to Die. I literally bought this game when it was in the low single digit Alphas on sale for like $7 dollara and it's been like getting a new free sequel every year. It's finally nearing full release and the modding is getting good and I think will pick up even more after a stable version is out. Just for retrospective when I bought this game my wife and I had just started dating. We've since bought a house and fixed it up got married sold thay house and bought another one, went through like 6 cars, 2 dogs, lost my father to cancer, had a kid, he turned 4 today. Like so much life has happened yet I still keep this game installed and play it at least 4-5 months out of the year. Playing right now actually.

Borderlands 2 is such a great game. And the moment I opened up borderlands 3 and saw the characters, I knew it was gonna suck.
Going from BL 1 and 2 to 3 is just sad. Sure, it feels smoother and you can slide and mantle. but it just feels lifeless and min-maxed. Vanilla might be a better term.
No super unique and fun abilities, no unique playstyles that come from the characters themselves, nothing like previous games.
And tbe guns felt worse somehow, even though you start getting unique guns earlier in BL3.

I LOVED The Outer Worlds. Played it right after getting my guts ripped out by the ending of Mass Effect 3, and it was just the medicine I needed. INCREDIBLE soundtrack, by the way. I loved the combat, story and humor, and the companions were fun. Ashly Burch as Parvotti and Mara Juno as Nyoka were icing on the cake. The Outer Worlds 2 teaser trailer is a master class in how to do game trailers, and I’m excited to see what the game is like.

Fallout 4 is highkey underrated af
the story's bad but for a list like this especially it just seems like it's placating by picking New Vegas, especially for people just getting into the series when the actual gameplay and shooting is objectively worse than F4.
edit: and the irony's not lost on me that all the footage they used of New Vegas was for a mod for Fallout 4 that recreates New Vegas in that better engine.

Mad max mad respect
I bought the physical copy about 4 years after it came out i didn't check reviews or listened to any opinions about it. I simply slipped the disc in and wham! What a banger
Fallout 4 received no love here lol
Haven't playd vanilla fallout for ages. However the mods realy spices up the game allot and im jaming it on the OG xbox one s console.

Where is DayZ probably the biggest map out of all of these with all the random encounters and adrenaline rush there's no better shooter out there. if you play it enough you will suffer and learn a lot. you can be looking at a seemingly random house and recall all the events that took place there if you bumped into someone. DayZ is just tremendous if you stick with it

Days gone got a famouyshitty review by IGN where the reviewer says something in the line of giving deacon slowdowns aim does not make sense cause he is just a biker. It proved that ign didn’t play the game cause u learn in a hour of the game story that deacon was in the Army so he knows how to shoot guns. Plus ign didn’t like that the zombies were all white.

I still play Far Cry 5 fairly often. I don't like games where the entire point is to just kll everyone. There as you're driving it's possible the others will shoot at you, but you can choose wherever or not to shoot back or turn around and hunt them. I do not enjoy the idea of having to eliminate anyone else, so I love that I don't have to in that game.

I do love Crysis I played it when it was first released (Just about managed to play it) The bit that always sucked was the AI. You get seen by one person and 1 second later everyone within a 10-mile radius knows exactly where you are. Down to the single blade of grass, you are standing on. I was hoping they would fix the AI in the remake but alas it was not so.

Metro exodus doesnt get much love FOR A REASON: it completely lost its identity and became a boring drag. Anyone who enjoyed Metro 2033 and Last Light knows there are only 2 good metro games and a shitty 3rd one. And guess what even the developers knew this was the case - thats why they went epic exclusive for a year, needed the extra money badly.

Love that gameranx alway throws some love days gones way. Such a good game, & i will need stop holding out hope for a sequel even tho sony already declined & everyday becomes less & less likely.
Also holding out hope that if it never gets a sequel, that at least someone will pick up the horde mode & expand, further refine, & run with it.

When you watch this while having every game on this list and you just smile and nod your head. Great video Gameranx. Y'all rock! I enjoyed the hell out of Far Cry 5. Probably one of my most anticipated games at the time. Shout out to my wife for allowing me to do all these things after I fulfill my adulting responsibilities.

For stare-field it's not the mechanics that were intended that was the horrible part but how they all functioned together or rather how they didn't. like the constant loading screens for everything and the extremely repetitive and boring exploration.

Borderlands 3 fell flat for me and my friends, compared to 2. 2 slapped, and hard. With all the issues GTA 4 had (and still has) on pc, GTA basically died for me, haven't touched 5, and don't think I will either, though I always go back to 3 or vice city.

I found Days Gone got old, I didn't even finish it, it started out strong, but not long after I beat my first horde I got bored of it. You can count on one hand the games I got halfway through then got bored of it, and Days Gone is one of them

I personally think MGSVTPP fits this list pretty well, especially with the option of going guns, blazin or total stealth on whatever mission you choose although admittedly, not open world a pretty large sandbox environment

I loved Metro Exodus. The whole series is under rated, but I think I'm in the minority of saying every game in that series is a big improvement on the previous one. I would love another metro game like exodus
