Remember that time Bungie made one of the best FPS games ever made with Halo: CE And then with the sequel proceeded to take away just about EVERYTHING that made the first game fun Like, the cool guns, the balanced and fun gameplay even at Legendary difficulty, a co-op mode that didn’t actively penalize the player, shields that were actually useful, checkpoints that actually worked consistently, all of that was gone. But the multiplayer and story were cool so people somehow didn’t notice it in 2004.
And then 343 had a decade to fix it but chose not to. I don’t know which is worse.

the FFXIV one would have worked on me, I remember the days of ffXI where there were ite4m drops that people literally spend months getting. I would go out and get in 5 minutes. had JUST got mine, my friend asked if he could help as he couldn't get his. I got it for him in seconds.
Another one I got a high level friend to help me farm the enemy that drops a rare item, 2 kills in. It was just so silly I couldn't get normal items to drop, but a quest item that other people could never get, I could get in seconds. Used to joke I had treasure hunter V.

Re: the #2 item, the Fishing minigame and users running with it. There's an old game called Progress Quest, it's a parody of CRPGs and quest grinding and. well, progress bars. It has a lot of them. After you roll (or unroll) your character -- I have a Demicanadian Fighter/Organist -- there is literally zero interaction with the game other than starting and closing it. And when it came out, there was a running gag among users to go to the websites that were distributing it (like CNET) and give it the most flowery, bombastic praise.

I'll always hate game balancing patches. I understand them. But I hate how devs get the orders to nerf your character or weapons far more than they need to and make them sometimes obsolete and all that time you spent on that character or gear is lost because they suck and now everyone is better than you. Just seems most mmo games I get really into is a victim to this. And it's only a matter of time before your character gets nerfed. They're never buffed.

The Counter-Strike story is similar to something that happened to Pillars of Eternity 2, were players were complaining taht the firearms (pistols, arquebus, etc) was too weak, so the devs said they buffed the weapons, when in reality they just changed the sound effect to make a bigger boom, no numerical change at all, and suddenly people were praising the changes saying that now the firearms were OP.

Good turn based rpgs i never know how they make that stat sheet balanced in a game translation somehow. .. Problem with accessorys in moba games. The small things multiply I remembered being pretty broken in league getting the perk ya wanted Hard to balance hit point management in all that. Especially bigger the character roster bigger the chances one or a few are going to be OP over the others

I think naming your studio Mostly Positive or Overwhelming Positive is pretty damn funny.
I guess I can understand why it would be problematic for Steam, but instead of kicking them off the platform, they should have given them the opportunity to change their name to Mostly Harmless (in honor of the late Douglas Adams)

Oh well, no fun for developers I guess is such a shitty way to approach people figuring out the catch. You HAD your fun, and you KNOW GAMERS! Stop being a crybaby, have a laugh about how fun the prank was, then do the thing legit, and go about your day.
Sorry, that’s just really poor sportsmanship imo.

regarding number 5, a long time ago a game called operation flashpoint released. it was one of the first gritty realistic FPS games, but if you pirated the game then all enemies became super snipers and would one shot from across the map. funny how many peeps complained the game was too hard

IIRC, the developers XCOM found that when the odds of hitting a shot are articulately displayed, players feel like they're hitting their shots less than what the numbers say. So they made shots behind the scenes be actually more articulate than what the numbers say

Bethesda intentionally keeping a game that they're going to release soon (in game development time, at least) a secret feels so foreign now that it's been 6 years since they announced the existence of Elder Scrolls 6 and we still know absolutely NOTHING about it.

You guys remember when CD protect fool everyone to think Cyberpunk run on the base PS4 and Xbox One
And the punching line was leaving the game unpatched to focus on the next version and everyone just forgave them because they launched an amazing dlc: )

Hopefully the part of Todd Howard saying they're not working on TESV during its development will translate to currently how he says Fallout 5 is not in the works yet and actually be years into it's development. God the things I would do for Fallout 5.

He's talking about 56k modems and lag. I used to multiplayer with Decent and Descent II by dialing up my friend a few towns over. on a 14. 4k modem. With only two players, it wasn't really that bad, actually. For early 90s technology anyway.

When Chuck Norris goes in for a physical, the doctor is too afraid to get close enough for an examination, so he. examines from afar, grading him on his overall physical appearence, which of course, is always perfect.

I don't like being trolled. I don't think these are funny.
But honestly, I just play the game as it is. Super, secret anything will likely never be seen by me. There is always the next game.

Hellblade 1 tells you that if you die too many times in the game, the game will delete your save file. This however is a lie, but it still caused a ton of needless anxiety to players
