I’ve got a 5090 Astral and I’m using DLSS 5 on Blood of Dawnwalker, and it looks stunning, and do mean stunning. It looks like real life, just in time for this game, as this is my dream game.
If you look at some of the footage online you’ll see. I’m getting around a solid 45FPS and that with DLAA 4K ultra settings. I don’t know what performance I had before as I capped my FPS to 60FPS. But let’s say I as getting 80-100FPS, thsh half, but honestly you can’t get any better, someone come on and actually thought I was watching a film. You can’t the difference.
I don’t know what these guys are going on about anyway, the shader you can control, for natural, intense etc (none of them at they mention here) so if you don’t what you’re doing you’ll get this very wrong, this isn’t meant it be the public, it’s meant to be for the developers.

Game devs could achieve these same results in realism with texture resolution and lighting computation but then no one would be able to run the game on any platform. So its not a cheat or changing the intent of the art. Its just a more efficient way to achieve realistic surfaces and rendering without having to run on a bank of super computers. We used to use ambient occlusion maps (pre baked detail lighting) before consoles and PCs became powerful enough for real time Global Illumination and we use to rely on single specular maps and normal maps before PBR materials became the norm. This is just the next step in that evolution.

They should just use it for backgrounds with lighting, and I'm ok with it, not a fan at all, but I'd let that minimum slide. Character design turns uncanny and cold which is grossly destroying the core of the artistic integrity of either limitations or intentions. I don't enjoy this concept as it really feels like it removes the true developers visions of their creations. The only acception I can give this is when said developer claims that they like that performance upgrade. Unanimously btw not just one director or random asset designer claiming the hive mind of the team

This is just going to be another Unreal Engine type slop epidemic.
It's going to take developers to tweak and optimize it for their games yeah, we all know that's not going to happen. Most developers are just going to click a button, ship it and call it a day. Just like all these games on Unreal Engine where half the devs in the industry don't even understand how most of it works under the hood.
Games over the next few years are going to be a shit show.

idk what kind of pink glasses you're wearing saying that this oversharpened and halo-ed (don't you see this terrible halo around character edges) image on TLOU: P1 looks good. it's terrible! are they all covered in 3 year old layer of fat on their skin have they never heard of bath This is postapocalypse. right! But they still wash themselves, they aren't cavemen who think only about fcking and hunting mammoths.

Seems like the equivalent of HDR treatment on photographs. In that case, your idea would be spot on. The environments would benefit from it more than the faces.
And yes, the fellow gamer below who mentioned the before-and-after yeah, that was kind of a missed opportunity. Thank you for the video, as always

GTA 4 looks amazing faces and all to me this is genuinely amazing technology and just imagine all the old games that will be able to be replayed with the high def we have been looking. For getting the remasters we always wanted from these big companies that don’t do it right

Gen z corn balls whats the opinion you were told to go with about this Im a little out of the loop as im not a brain dead idiot myself. What did IG tell you to think about this Or reddit Whats the three phrases your gonna try to get top comment with this round God you guys are ass.
reply

Environments looks way better, faces sometimes does and sometimes not. Sometimes it changes the design, sometimes not. It will get better with years, it is unavoidable so get use to it. Of course it will look better with games specifically designed with this tech in mind.

Falcon you need to set some sliders for Witcher 3 blood and wine to look right, but you're categorically wrong - it's probably the best looking showcase for DLSS5 right now.
Please check the right configurations and try again, i honestly mean good with this comment.

DLSS 5 is a quite nice of a tool a human can only do so much unless we wan't to wait 15-20 years for a game but that said it does not mean it looks good, i'm curious about it's future but it's definitly not needed, could have dropped actual stronger gpu's this time
reply

DLSS5 reminds me a lot of early HDR photography. Basically a bit of the effect looks great, but if you overdo it, the image ends up looking deep fried as hell. When something is new, people tend to turn it up to 11. Generally a 5/10 effect is going to be better.
reply

DLSS 5 remind me of when world of warcraft would do a rebalance and squish all the stats. If we put in some tech that lowers your nice GPUs frame rate to 24 FPS, you now have a reason to buy a 6090 to achieve 60 or 120fps. Plus fake frames.
reply

On using DLSS5 in TW3, I'd be keen to see it applied after CDPR puts out the remaster with the updated DLSS tech in place (RR, Path Tracing etc. Thanks for posting anyway as I know a ton of us are excited to play the remaster soon
reply

It doesnt change the texture of the skin, just makes the lighting of the existing models more defined, more realistic lighting, lets you see more texture. It just means the textures are generally not perfect to real life.
reply

Wow, you guys really knocked it out of the park with the script on this one. Literally said the same 3 things over and over and over and over again. What a waste of time, there's not even a cross section of before & after.
reply

A video about visual change and comparison without a before and after was a very surprising choice. It's asking the audience to have played all these games and remember exactly how they looked like before.
reply

dlss5 is going to set back game development, as developers wI'll just reach of the cheap garbage option to make a game look better, instead of actually putting in the effort to make a game look and run good
reply

Do people actually enjoy hyper realistic graphics This all just looks like slop. A stylised aesthetic will almost always be more visually appealing than something that looks like the uncanny valley
reply

This hate so sooo forced. Most folks don't give one fluck about artist integrity. You just want something to bandwagon. Everything is not Ai sLoP. Hell most games need graphic mods to even look decent.
