AHHH in the spirit of letterman, i fck with spam callers too. i act like i'm a little kid - i definitely have a grown womans voice - and start to tell them about my dogs and cats - i have no cats. my goal is to keep them on line for as long as possible, but damn they hang up too fast.
, i got 2 versions of a happy birthday song in one day. i told the callers i was 25 and would they sing me a b day song? I use that ploy about 2 times a week. sometimes i just answer the phone with we've spoken before, without a word, from the caller. sometimes they hang up, sometime i hang up. . i also try to get them off their script which is tough.
speaker phone is a riot. i put them on and then wander around my room moving stuff around like i'm actually doing something and i'm kinda yelling things like I can't hear you. can you talk louder? and What?
i'm waiting for allstate to call so i can request the Pet Shop Boys song opportunities, except the commercial cut of the song, i want to hear it over and over. that one will be fun.

regis started out as joey bishop's 2nd man. his couch man like Ed McMann was to to johnny carson. his AHHH hooo man.
joey bishop had a late night talk show and was a fringe member of the rat pack. regis started out sitting on the couch but got moved farther down for every new guest. these guys always crashed each others interviews and/or shows. regis was pretty young and looked 14 and great fun was had about that. he looked 14 ell into his 30s.

Dave is the best interviewer AND guest. I've seen him with Carson and Leno and he's always clever, extremely entertaining and gracious.
