Metallica performs the song Holier Than Thou on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Mike: Maybe you caught me in a bad mood because I ran out of pot, but I gotta say. I wasn't expecting the guys to perform a song like holier than thou and was kind of just hoping for another new one. Right now that is the material im really excited for. Im gonna play devils advocate here and say I wasn't much into this performance. It didn't do anything for me like the way hearing lux aeterna did. Maybe that is because im spoiled by already hearing a prime James Hetfield sing this song on plenty of live 90s Tallica videos. We aren't asking you to top that or relive those moments in 2023. Just hit us with the new stuff boys.

It was good but why oh why never do we hear DYER'S EVE? TRAPPED UNDER ICE? METAL MILITIA? DAMAGE INC? SPIT OUT THE BONE? If love making setlists and Lars would love them because they are structured. Fade, Sanitarium and Master would be on the list but after that. omg everything would be breakneck Metallica speed. let's just say the old heads would freak and you might get one Black album tune but NOTHING from Load until Magnetic. Oh I wish I could make up a setlist one night.

It's great to see them doing this one again, one of the best on their 'sellout' album! At almost 60 these guys have more energy than bands half their age. James vocals are absolutely better than ever. The fact he can sing like that and also play a mean guitar is what makes them stand out. It would have been a cop out to get a lead singer. So glad they didn't. They are the four horsemen after all!

I've been a huge fan of Metallica for over 20 years in South Korea. They have so many fans in South Korea. I know a lot of their songs, but I don't really know the meaning of the lyrics. Because music is a feeling. I still respect them and I am grateful that I can listen to their songs every single day.

I know that Metallica are on this programme to promote their new album, but i always disliked seeing them on these straight laced programmes, they don't belong, the crowd are not into it, it's like seeing a Lion at the zoo, they're wild animals and should be only seen in the wild!

Cue the Metallica haters what a bunch of losers. Back in the day there was no fighting between Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin fans. There was a love and appreciation of rock music, not fighting about who can play faster. Nice job Metallica. Almost 6 yrs old and killing it.

I wonder how they make this choice amongst all their great songs. Like how do they arrive at this particular song. One of my faves but bass solo thing towards the end wasn t as predominant as studio or other live versions. Anyways still awesome

I'll never forget people's disgusted faces when they used to find out I was a metalhead who listened to these disgusting bands that don't make sense In the early 90s. And now. my band is being praised all-over mainstream media

I can't believe for how long I've been listening to this band, practicing their songs on guitar and bass since my teenage years, and here I am in my 40s still head banging and jaming along. These guys have inspired generations.

Goddamn I stand corrected, Metallica still got it. I felt 17 again for a second sitting in a car smoking a bowl followed by a freshly packed Marlboro red blasting the black album. '92 was a great year. I think.

If I told my Dad that Metallica would be playing Holier Than Thou on Kimmel in 2023 he would have laughed in my face. Can't believe these dudes are still rocking out songs like this on such a stage.

I remember now why they my favorites. These new singles sound good on spotify but Lars played that Lux song too sloppy. Wasn t feeling it. When they play the classics, I always forgive them.

Not the same without Jason. He really brought a metal attitude that improved on the band in a big way. After Jason left the band hasn t made as good of albums then when he was with them.
