Hey! You could make a Doom II review! (Hahahahaha just kidding, you're gonna get it)
Carmageddon is an amazing game! The PC version is much more difficult than the Android port because you can't be eliminated and your car can't be stuck sideways (which happens A LOT) on the PC version!
About the cars and the career mode, I always liked to choose Max but to use Ana's car instead. Since Max's is front wheel drive and Ana's is rear wheel drive, you get a lower chance to get eliminated trying to do so with your opponents. After all the races was concluded, the opponents give you a copy of their car keys. So you can pick up the Stella's car (which is capable of electrocute people by default) and your task to kill all the pedestrians become a little bit less suffering!
And what about the 6-wheeled cop car!
Thanks, LGR, for such a great review! I still play Carmageddon on my Android nowadays. Awesome game!

man I spent hours and hours playing a burned copy of carmageddon 2 my friend gave me. I spent so long playing it with the IWISHICOULDFLYRIGHTUPTOTHESKY cheat on that I hallucinated the car engine and metal scraping sounds for an hour after I stopped one time. My copy was busted and I could never save any progress and I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to fix it but i still loved it. especially the deformable cars. I would mash the crush car cheat button over and over with engine damage turned off and just make my car into a pancake. I remember once I ran head first into a pole and split my bus right down the middle. Oh man what a good game. typing in the cheats practically taught me to type. I still remember Zazzaz and bonbon for the zap laser and shooty bombs.

I remember this coming out back in the day and I took a 1hour bus ride to go buy it with my allowance that I had saved up and then another 1hour ride back and literally running back to my house from the bus stop to get to play this. And it was amazing. The driving feeling and the physics are still great and it is a genuine joy to play.
A couple of years ago the original team had a crowdsourcing campaign to recreate the original game and it was successful. They also made a mobile port of the original so I got to enjoy this version too, while waiting for the new one.
Brilliant nonetheless, as is Carma2. (which by the way had Iron Maiden soundtrack)

Fact: Carmageddon is the first game combining a real physics engine with deformable models, open environnement, sandbox playing if you like. It's the ancestor of anything like modern GTA and the such. I used to hack the game when I was young to modify specs of cars. A 100 tons earthmover is a thing you dream to lay your littles hands on in your kiddy sandbox, so I made one myself in Carmageddon. Yeah, I actually had a retail copy of the early uncensored EU red blood version when I was 12. I'm perfectly chemically balanced nevertheless.
Also developed by Stainless Steel. Because good games are like good knives, they never rust.

Awesome game, awesome fun! I never understood this 'inherent' connection between liking this game and being a psycho. In my mind, the only people who would ever make that connection in their head are the people who would read a book and then go do the actual thing in real life, and then blame the book for what they did. That's a bit like Hitler's mom suing the Nietzche Publishing Company and blaming it for what her 'impressionable' lil' Adolf did.

I even though I'm from Germany I had luck to have friends with access (somehow, I don't know) to the uncensored version. :-)
Later I played the version with robots. And it was terrible. 0: -)
The second part is also great and does a lot better, but honestly sometimes I missed the police.
While they were tough as hell, there wasn't much more satisfying than wrecking one of them.

I was playing the android version of this game and I, with great patience, wrecked the police car at some low level. Then the game declared me a 'cheater' and rewarded me by unlocking everything immediately: D I wonder if the same cheat exists in the original version.

it's like almost all games from 1990-2005 were innovative or at least unique
while games now are basically just copy pasting each other and if it's a good gaming studio with creative developers the best they might do is to give it their own spin and try to match together all the components and design choices they've copy pasted from other games

I remember i played Deathttrack alot back in the day. Some time later, the same with Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. After that i wondered if there'd ever be games which combined both.
And a few years later came Carmageddon, Destruction Derby, Fatal Racing and Interstate '76 and '82. I had alot of fun playing them all: )

I dunno, I sort of hated the control in this game. I love the look, feel and overall style of the game and killing things is indeed a joy. But sometimes it got too unstable and I'd get stuck on the dumbest things. I much prefer the sequel too, and completing this game once is more than enough for me.
