That's one opinion. Sure, there are a lot of stingy free games out there that truly suck, and I've railed against those before. But in my eyes this one is an example of free gaming done right. It lets people have a good time and gain premium content without paying a single cent. That's awesome for a lot of people who are low on cash and want to game. Saying it's low in quality is just being ignorantly closed-minded, as the quality is apparent if you give it an honest look.

Ignoring your flamey -quality- comments. When it makes business sense and gets more games into the hands of more people, yeah, free games that have pay options make a whole lot of sense. Not everyone has the cash to pay for lots of top-tier games, even in first-world countries, myself included. It expands the industry and in turn helps fund larger and better games. I see no harm in free games when they're done right.

F2P is always a complete sack of crap BS rip off or an extremely drawn out waste time to get any progress, then they nerf the hell out of everything n eventually shut the serves and you totally lose the lot. If you want an actual free RTS then go dload WZ 2100 and donate a few quid if you enjoy it, or not as it is completely free and still about the best RTS to play on or offline.

What exactly don't you like about AoE3? The main thing that really frustrated me about it was that cannons pretty much destroyed the -old-school- base-building style gameplay the older AoE games had where a defensive strategy was viable. Also, the fact that guns and cannons could fire through walls, they didn't have to destroy them to fire past them only to move past them.

This is, in my opinion the best AOE game yet. I was a big fan of Age 2, but 3 wasn't quite what I had hoped. I reluctantly tried aoe-online and was pleasantly surprised and didn't mind putting down ten dollars or so for a civilization. (without paying you get gear you cant equip to your units. I play this game mostly solo, rarely co-op or pvp and its good fun. GG.

I'm not making a dime from these -crappy gameplay videos- dude. It had nothing to do with that whatsoever. I like games, and I like free things. When they do it in such a way that I get fun without having to pay for anything and don't have to spam people or click past a bunch of money-begging, I see no problem with it whatsoever.

Except that here you can earn all the typical -pay to win- stuff by simply playing the game and earning points, not having to pay at all and still earn as much as those that do pay: )
Just saying, it's not nearly as bad as many F2P games I've played. Well, there's still the whole GFWL thing, that's kind of a downer.

I've been wanting to get in to this game for a while now, except when it came out it pretty much was, -Pay us lots of money for some more content-, and the free content had sucked. Good to see they at least give you an alternate way to earn things. I'd love to join you game as well, downloading on steam. :D

Good job with the -Play- you did nailed it what it looks and feels. Atlast I did try the online mmo and didn't really enjoy it, luckily it's free so I am glad I didn't have to spend a dime before moving on. My thoughts go out to FIREFALL and what they are trying to to with Free online play.
