Gameplay and commentary on Farming Simulator 2013, a simulation of farming. Plow, seed, fertilize, grow, harvest! Awesome! Buy FS2013 on my game shop and help support the show! Or just grab it on Steam!

Really late for this party, I did not know that you reviewed this game. There is one must have mod, that let's you set and save routes for your vehicles; so in a way you have workers without having workers, because all the workers do is harvest, plow, and cultivate. That is a lot, but when you start carrying like 8 to 15 fields you need some more options. The mod allows you to set up delivery routes, routes for drivers assisting harvesters, it also allows you to set routes for field fertiization as well. Sorry I can not remember the name of the mod, but it is a complete life saver. Really a great game, not surprised there is such a big following.

So are you giving each category equal weight? Who's to say that security is better than UI? Even within each of your smaller arguments you still rely on preference. -Simplicity- and -efficiency- needs to be even more specific to really rely solely on data. At the end of the day, how you use the data and show (or hide) it, differs from person to person. This is why statistics can be used to -prove- just about anything. Read some Socrates, he destroys a judge by proving he can't define justice.

This all looks great. if it was in another game. I can't see myself playing this on it's own though. Perhaps if there was pests to fight off. Livestock breeding where you find livestock with desired features and try to cultivate those traits. More than just one type of resource to be gained from each animal. Other farmers to compete with. Different types of markets to sell to such as mom & pop shops, big retail chains etc. Natural disasters. So much could be done to spice that up.

I have never realized that this was a thing for non-german speakers. I mean sure here in Germany many people know it because people that like that farming shit love the crap out of it, but the majority can't do anything with it. But it seems that they are really really successfull with that kind of game. But for the mechaniks and shit it at least knows what it does.

this game looks awesome. just something super cool about tractors and farming equipment, the fact they are purely functional vehicles that kinda look badass at the same time. and farming is just something rooted in our dna since it's been a staple in our survival since the beginning man. so i can see why this game has so much appeal despite the slow and tedious game play.

Would there be a down side to planting with everything set to slow such as plant growth and then turning up speed to being the fastest setting possible? Or is that more or less just like the sims where you send them to work hit the speed up until action is finished button and then just going back to it? Like do other things rely on your attention while crops are growing?

One addition that would add a touch more realism would be fluctuating market prices depending on natural disasters and geopolitics. ideally you should have to decide whether you want to buy futures early in the season. That and employee theft/idleness which you couldn-t track without conducting an audit and/or monitoring real-time GPS.

The tutorials were all so similar and boring that I lost interest in playing afterwards. it's just one similar vehicle after another. doesn't teach you anything about the financial aspect of the game. How do you learn that anyway? Just driving generic farm vehicles back and forth across a square field wasn't alot of fun.

But you see, you don't get to learn anything about all the other stuff he shows in the video in-game. The tutorials just show you 10 different vehicles and tell you to drive them around a square field until filled up. Not how to do everything else in the game. That's what I meant. I like these kinds of sims too.

Really love when you review these -strange- games. There are a game called Agro-Simulator 2013, it's the rival franchise o Farming Simulator, also from a germany studio. It's more realistic and have actually very pretty graphics for such kind of game.
Here in Brazil these games are very popular.
