sorry to those of you that like this game, but if you have ever read any or watched anything related to the noir genre, you would know this game was utter crap. The only thing that was -noir- about it, was the era it was set in and not much else. What they should have done was have an aclaimed noir author like walter mosely or James Ellroy write the story because the story is awful. Most of you will hate me for posting this but read the Black Dhalia or watch L. A. Confidentual and you will agree.

Its more than just a definition. Ask any aclaimed noir author how to define the word and most of them would have a different definition, if they could even define it at all. I've read more than 15 books, watched countless films, and even published my own works (earning the blacker than noir award in the process) under the noir context and I can tell you from my expierence and from other people with similar credentials who agree with me that this IS NOT noir. In name only.

I usually like games like this, loved Heavy Rain and Fahreneit, different styles I know, but they also had this -interactive- feeling, and i kinda disliked this game. In Heavy Rain, for example, each action led to a consequence, in here, i remember some interrogations, where i failed, and i had to do the questioning again. I wanted consequences, i wanted the -interactiveness-. Game had potential: -

35: 42 good ol' teletransportation! a rockstar's classic on the PC.
I remember once, at the time GTA4 for the PC was just released, I was driving like a maniac and crashed into a huge truck.
Instead of a standard collision, the truck just popped out of existence and my car started spinning at enourmous speed.
Be it intentional or accidental, rockstars games always delivers a lot of fun.

Having played this game AND GTA, I must say that I'm used to this 'style' of driving and mayhem in GTA, but not in L. A. Noire. Seeing Cole Phelps just got batsh! t crazy on the town, hit-and-running his partner, and just going -Sorry! - as he brutally runs over citizens with his car of choice makes me laugh. I expect Niko to do that, but not Cole. XD

I didn't want to play this game before I saw this video. This is due to character animation. I do not mind when a video game has a live actors in them, like phantasmagoria, or toonstruck, but mixing the computer made character and a live actor, no just doesn't look right to me. Anyway, after watching this, I now really want to play this game!

The graphics and small touches there are amazing! Like when he backs the car, he actually looks backwards. And the lips aren't just moving randomly like a puppet as they talk, but you can actually read their lips. This is amazing! =O I've never even heard of this game before, not being a big gamer and all. Is there a PC version? Is it just as good?

You making this game into something that it shouldn't be, making it look like carmageddon or gta, which is awesome, and makes the game more interesting! I did not know that this game allows you to play like that. P. S. I love all of your videos, and especially game-plays like this one! Your comments always make me laugh! :)

Mad Men, woooo! Haven't tried this game yet, but it was fun watching Cole Phelps/Ken Cosgrove run around. Laughed at the description of the Black house as being -delightfully creepy- - reminded me of something you'd hear on old MST3K episodes. :D I agree that there should be more period games. With awesome cars!
