Ah morrowind the game so many people view through nostalgia goggles. Don't me wrong it was fantastic in it's day but many of the modern convinces make the game outdated feeling. Lock picking to combat is a chore without mods and the quest system shows it's age. Yes it's nice to have to think but aggro acting when you have to remember directions after a week of not playing because of life or spending hours find exactly where to go. Realism is only good to a certain degree. I can't wait for skywind since that should fix 90% of the game's faults. I'd like to enjoy the game but it's age makes it hard.

Morrowind is the only game that made me feel sorry for the enemies. As soon as you get leveled up to take on the major battles in the main quest then being waylaid by bandits on the road isnt much of a challenge anymore. Then when you search the bodies of the poor homeless folk who attacked you, you realize they have nothing but rags and a few sad makeshift weapons and only tried to rob you out of desperation. It's a pathetic existence hiding in a cave out in the ashlands hoping somebody comes by with some food. Makes me wanna cry.

Most of that information is misleading. Factions barely react to eachother, and when they do you can wipe the slate clean by throwing a couple coins their way.
Dialogue is bigger, but more generic, most NPCs say the same things and they never interact with each other, unlike in Skyrim where NPCs have relationships to one another and actually interact with the world.
The economy in Morrowind is broken, simply broken. It's easy to get hundreds of gold pieces even in the building you start in.

Morrowind is the 5th in the elder scrolls series.
I am aware of the shitty naming convention movies and games have as should anybody.
Arena
Daggerfall
Battlespire (was an expansion to Daggerfall but was made stand alone, also omits -elder scrolls- in title)
Redguard (omits -elder scrolls- in title)
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim
Legends (which is a card game)
Online (which omits a number)

Went back to this not too long ago, tried out one of those classes you can't make in oblivion or esp skyrim. Still a great RPG.
Dunno why people hate on the background hit/miss thing, There are a couple more legitimate problems with this Gem. Missing is really only a problem at low levels.
I'll take hit/miss over limiting my build options any day.

As much as I love Morrowind, the combat truly was unbelievably godawful. That is the #1 reason Oblivion and Skyrim are better. That and also the fact that NPC's are completely static in Morrowind. Skyrim is the best for having an actual living world. There really is no going back after you have played Skyrim. It's just painful to try.

When he went into the tomb I was hit by a wave of nostalgia and a feeling that that's how dungeon crawling should be. I mean in the new games if feels like every dungeon, cave, and castle is pretty wide open and well lit. I also never wanted into some tomb in the new games that'll just kill me cause it all scales with your character.

ohh I haven't touched Morrowind in years. I'm just now getting it, along with the Mod so I can enjoy it again. It's funny cuz after playing Skyrim, I have the urge to Shout when I replay Oblivion. sure I'll get that feeling again once I start over in Morrowind. bleh. Thanks for the mod, Phreakindee!

This was the ONLY game i have memories of and it feels like i actually LIVED in its world. A fact that both Oblivion and Skyrim (which i started several times but never played more than 10-15 hours)failed for me. Skyrim and slightly less Oblivion feel like. games. Morrowind is an experience.
