So the 1080p isn't quite enough? I guess we have to wait a few years more for the 4K version: -( If the gaming feels like there's a huge screen on front of you, or like you're wearing a scuba mask, it's just not my thing. They should make the screens bigger for your eyes then. And add more pixels = 4K should do it. Plus the problem with those lenses. I wear glasses and using contacts isn't my thing, either. I just couldn't use them, who'd want to touch his own eye, anyway, yugh. So the lenses should be more adjustable, a bit like you see on DSLR cameras with the viewfinder.

What i want to play is games like No man's Sky and other flying games i think would be incredibly cool. Of course i'm looking forward to trying FPS games and such, but something like No Man's Sky i think will really cool.
I really wanted to get the DK2 this year on launch however, but after hearing about the screen door effect even on it i think i'll wait until the final first release. Hopefully the first release version will have a 4K oled/amoled screen. Ive once had to deal with the screen door effect and its something i can't deal with.

markiplier- OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING OH GOD -feels compelled to buy one-
LGR- OH GOD THIS IS AMAZING it doesnt always work and its got its problems but its early hardware and software so it may be fixed for consumer release -feels compelled to buy one but not as if its the ready for us right now just need to wait for it to be perfected-
lgr tells you what you need to know before buying technology like this cause its expensive and you dont want to sink your money into a paperweight

-Luckey Palmer- - heh, it never occurred to me how dirty that name sounds until you switch the first and last around.
Incidentally, I have both a DK2 and DK1 myself and the improvements made in the second version are very noticeable, from the screen-door reduction to the lower latency to the head tracking. The runtime and drivers are still buggy for the DK2, but overall it is a massive improvement.

I owned a DK2. I didn't use it much. I couldn't find much software that supported it, other than little homebrew Unity things. Nowadays. I use Vive.
For the record, Elite: Dangerous looks sick as hell in VR nowadays. You get an incredible sense of scale. The Cobra MK. II's cockpit looks -massive-, like you could actually stand up and walk around it.

Did you test anything like Vireio or Vorpx? I've been trying latest Vireio release on DK2 without any luck. games are just crashing at launch with -appcrash-. I managed to get -NaissanceE- engine (UDK) to work in stereoscopic mode, but as you were saying, the monitor had to be configured in split mode and that. oh man, that is a real pain in the ass!

It's hard to imagine this working for an FPS game. What if you had to do some quick aiming like in Quake 3 for example? Your neck just can't do that. Unless you can use your mouse in tandem with your neck, perhaps something like the reticule aiming in Goldeneye or Perfect Dark. Walking simulators would be fine, though.

i think the fact remains that Oculus is just an inferior design when compared to Vive. I don't think I can handle the eye strain of Morpheus and Oculus and I'm pretty sure the lag will make me motion sick eventually. Valve has solved these problems and that's why I'm spending my money with them in November.

This is a really awesome review, best I've seen so thanks. You should get yourself a Fanatec CSR or Logitech G27 (or if you want to spend less, a Logitech DFGT) to play pCARS on. That + OR = real life driving without the g-force and risk of death essentially.
