A bit of what goes into producing an episode of Lazy Game Reviews. Just four hours of the process shown here, but it usually takes 15-30 hours to make a review depending on the subject matter. Footage is of The Sims 3 Seasons review, shot in November 2012

That's some pretty neat stuff you just showed there! Always love the 'normal' LGR videos, and I really loved this insight in how they are made. Perhaps you could do a more in depth 'making of' somewhere in the future? Even though I get quite a good idea from this vid, I'd like to hear your reasoning, for example, on why you use BOTH Audacity AND Adobe Audition- Surely, you could do all of your voice-over work in one of them? Or are there specific features in one, that aren't in the other?

if you do script writing and audio recording different from gameplay, then how in the hell do you ever make the aw some videos on LGR plays, cause you make it sound like your actually recording your thoughts at the moment when your playing; unless, you gather your thoughts on your game play and record it then or do you have a mic where you can audio record on the spot?

Woohoo cheap plug for Sun Drop. lol. I had to laugh at seeing that. Great little slice of how you make these, great to see. I love your monitor stand too. Though the idea of doing that much work on such a small monitor frightens me and my old eyes. :) Love your work! You shoudl sometime do a few narrative voiceovers for faux commercials. :) Bet you could really rock out.

I use Audition and Audacity for audio editing and recording, Premiere Pro CS5. 5 for video editing, Fraps/Camtasia/Live Gamer HD card for capturing. The mic is a Blue Snowball with some pop filters and shock mount attachments, and a RODE PSA 1 desk mount. Headset is a SteelSeries Siberia v2, though I rarely use that for recording.

For such a -lazy- gamer, you sure do put a lot of work in your video production.
I'd probably start out with with Windows Movie Maker 2. 6, CamStudio, Office Web Apps (on SkyDrive)--pencil & paper, typewriter, Tape-recorder Mic with headphone-foam held by hand, and. a pair of Sony MDR-V6s.

There's too much testosterone coming from your beard that at one point it becomes too attractive for the ladies, and starts pushing them back.
(Or maybe people just confuse you with Johan Hegg too much)

You seem to do everything prepared and organized. If I were you, I'd just do it impromptu, talk while playing then upload, might work for entertaining personalities but you're more professional.

Well, this shows how I make an LGR episode. LGR Plays are different beasts entirely, and for those I just play and record at the same time, no thought-gathering or any such extra work.

Jeebus that is a lot of work. Do you do it as a hobby or do you get any cash out of this? Do video game creators ever actually contact you with requests to review their video games?
reply

If you look carefully, you can see LGR's beard grow through the length of the video. The same will happen when LGR starts loading tape-based games for his new Dragon 64.
