LGR - Cities: Skylines Review (from 2015)

Finally, a promising contender for SimCity's city-building crown. Is it any good? How does it compare to its predecessors? Find out in this review! Zedek: About the -deathcare problem- - I played the game in 2015 as well, but the buildings were not getting abandoned by the dead body itself AFAIK. They just lose that household and if the others move out due to the smell (said so in the Chirper you turned off, then it gets abandoned. To be honest, which makes sense. But I had dead bodies in a small building with 1 family and obviously, when they die, it gets abandoned. I had dead bodies in a 15-home building and it was not abandoned because, well, 14 other families were still in there. But maybe they patched that out before I took care of it.
The second problem at 9: 05 is you not having enough workers of that required skill (as seen in the background with those icons flashing. I mean, you basically had a -negative babyboom- with all those deceased. Obviously, businesses are abandoned if no workers are there. You wanted your simulation, there it goes. And it works, even it might have shocking results. Which I also had to painfully learn; )

Still one of my favourite games, but performance wise it's hitting a wall: all the agent simulation is very CPU intensive, and the game's engine only uses a single core (or maybe dual core at max, I don't know exactly. This means first and foremost, that my laptop with a 2015 dual-core processor can barely run the game at all, and when you have a PC with a modern high-performance CPU; which has 8 or more cores, the game cannot take advantage of them.
Also, it eats RAM like crazy. 32GB recommended, and 8GB is the absolute minimum

I also like how I just use this game more as a sandbox of just plopping certain buildings (with the plopable RCI mod) to make my own unique skylines and layouts. (Am I the only one who just uses the game as a sandbox more than a simulator) The mods make everything better too, as you can have American looking cities with a few mods and assets.
Although, I honestly do wish you can Co-op somehow with the game. Building cities with friends honestly sounds fun.

I didn't really click with Skylines when it first came out but over the years I've put several more hours into it and tonight just sat and played for 4 hours straight. That's extremely rare for me anymore, especially after days work staring at a computer for 8 hours before. I still hate chirper, it's pretty useless most of the time. Stop getting mad about lack of health clinics but that complaining when I plop one down but it took down a tree in the process!

It-s weird that you had issues with not knowing what was causing problems, I never experienced that so far. I think it-s mainly because I kept chirper on. It-s really useful and it tells you everything that-s happening, if you see complains about pollution, or dead bodies, or garbage, or water, and stuff you know how to fix it. And you can click on the name of the person who tweeted, which shows you exactly what building is having issues.

I prefer Cities XL, this one is made just too difficult, once one building gets abbandoned it starts a dominoe effect and it ends in complete mess.
Also once you start your city it will ask you for low density residential zones, then it will say there are not enough comercial zone so you make more, then it will tell industrial zones are not enough so you build more, now residential zones are not enough, and so on. senseless.

You-re a person after my own heart. There are a lot municipal politicians not knowing what they-re doing. Can-t even be a politician because it would be a conflict of interest. Our old infrastructure is not good even on Twitter. There-s a definite line on what should be and what is. I can honesty say that public service is borked and disingenuous to us plebians that actually ensure it works.

Cities Skylines without Traffic Manager is pretty much unplayable, just watching this hurts. The 6 lane road with 1 single turning lane, all clogged, made me want to reach for the lane tool. lol
It is no joke how much this game evolved since launch. Day-night cycle, terraforming, better data layers, better ai, industries, better performance, and sooo many mods.

Simply put. the developers are from finland where summer and winter are much more interchangeable. So without much knowledge of other summers looked like, they had to guess. An one of the things they actually guessed was the lack of night because they believed it didn't exist.

I have only played ONE Sim City game, and that is Sim City 3000. Granted, I have played a variety of Tycoon games, and heard about the other Sim City games (RIP, but only played one. Now it looks like I will be playing a spiritual successor, thanks to your advice.
