Yup, we sold a crapload of -ViewSonic- monitors. I used to work for a company that had 21- Sony Trinitron monitors as a secondary monitor for our programmers, their primary was a LCD. when those first came out. but still they could not beat the CRT's. No matter who's name was on it, their were only a few manufacturers in the world, and that tube came from one of them.
That's what is so funny about Apple using Samsung panels in their phones. there are still only a few GOOD producers of LCD panels.
LCD's are hilarious. something like 2 of 10 made never made the cut and went out to the secondary market when they first came out.
CRT's were the same way, if they didn't make it. that's why some monitors looked -crappy-. they were.

I-m going to be getting my first CRT monitor today. A 17inch, triad mask, Hyundai Imagequest Q770 Flatscreen. I-m super hyped for it, even though it-s probably not the best monitor. I just think it would be hard to mess it up so badly that it looks worse than my LCD for 640x480 video, the one thing I want it for. I eventually plan to collect many of these things, but this is a good start as I-m getting this one for free along with most of the components I-d need to built a 286 from my Dad-s coworkers, as his company is finally upgrading the PC that they-ve been using for some super important company stuff for nearly 40 years. The monitor isn-t as old as the PC, and should be in pretty good condition.

I know this is an old video, but, I had a pair of 17 inch Viewsonic monitors, and while their native resolution was 1280x1024, they were only able to do 60Hz at their native resolution, and that gave me headaches. So, I just ran them both at 1024x768 to get the 85Hz refresh. Fast forward to now (February 2020) and I am SOOOO glad I have a monitor that has a native resolution of 2560x1440 that normally does 60Hz, but I can overclock it to as high as 120Hz. 80Hz however is plenty to keep the headaches at bay, and I know this monitor can run that safely for a long time.

Just few years ago I bought Samsung 757mb that does 1920x1080-60, 1280x1024-89 and 1024x768-116 for 5$ and it was glorious for playing Metal Gear Solid 3 in emulator with 3x of game's native internal resolution. Contrast alone is >10x times bigger than any TN or IPS panel and >3x more than VA- but then my GPU died and all newer models lack VGA output: / I bought cheap Chinese VGA+HDMI->DP adapter but the damn thing doesn't pass CRT monitor's EDID data, so system refuses to use its real modes: (

I just got a used Sony Multiscan G420 for $10. For the first time in 12 years I finally got a decent monitor again! The picture quality and the black levels are mindblowing. How is it possible that we pay $1000 for gaming monitors nowadays and it looks worse than what was produced 15 years ago. I wish they were still selling new CRT monitors. I hope my new used Sony Multiscan will survive till the first OLED gaming monitors come out

I once had a 21- CRT Viewsonic monitor that came from work once they had upgraded to large LCD monitors. That thing was a damn beast. Heavy as hell, I thought my cheap computer desk would break from the weight of it. Not to mention with the extremely large back end, it barely fit in the space I had. I think the original owner of it was doing some sort of CAD or plotting software on it and needed the enormity of it back in the day.

I just found a ViewSonic Optiquest on craigslist for 5 bucks! Slowly I am amassing my collection of old tech to create old game stations and complete computer sets. I've got key boards, some mice, and an Altec Lansing speaker system. Now to just find a cheap old PC with windows 95 or 98 to start off with. Videos like this keep me excited to hunt for more old ones to save from the dumpster.

Where do you find these old desktops and monitors? I remember being a kid and owning an HP Pavilion 8750 (had a really cool transparent blue front cover. I've always wanted to find another one and max out the specs and drop a dedi gpu in it to play some of the games from my childhood on. Nothing quite beats playing those old games on a pc from that era with a clean looking CRT.

My first ever desktop monitor was a Viewsonic. Lasted for about 8-9 years before the image went all blurry and eventually just died. It was really good up until then. I remember it being specifically recommended because it apparently caused much less eye strain than some cheaper alternatives and from my experience with other units at the time it was true.
