With this video, it remembers me my first PC a IBM PS/1 Multimedia Model 2155, would love seeing you make a video of it.
On some sort of way it was a weird computer, you could upgrade the CPU by putting a newer one on the mathematics co-processor socket, in my case was a Intel Overdrive DX2 with 66 MHz and it came with a pain in the a- DOS version 6. 2 (yes, not the common 6. 22. Also I had made a RAM update to 16 MB and a second HDD with 450 MB, the computer came with a Sound Blaster 16 with the CD-ROM interface, unfortunately, I burned that sound card with an electric spike on the speakers so I swapped the card with a Sound Blaster AWE64 CT4520 that didn-t had a CD-ROM interface so it lost the CD-ROM capability, I tried with several IDE CD-ROMs but none of them I could get it working with that PC so it was the end of it.

The PS/2 Model 25 was the first computer I ever purchased, the byproduct of a summer job as a custodian for my elementary school when I was just a lad (part of a special summer work program for students. My unit featured the color screen and those sweet MCGA graphics which skipped from standard CGA display modes straight to 320x200 with 256 colors, mirroring the same VGA mode (SCREEN 13 in QBasic. I pimped my machine out with a 420 MB ) IDE hard drive, game card, and IBM PC DOS 5. 0. I learned QBasic on the machine and installed a bevy of Sierra online games, and still have the unit in a closet. I need to restore it as the machine doesn't post anymore, just pulls up a fuzzy screen. Any one have any guidance on steps or resources to get mine back up and running?

I still remember downloading. QWK mail files from the IBM BBS as a team OS/2 member, endlessly replying and trying to spread the word: OS/2 is the future!
It's so heartbreaking when you read the pricing section for various compilers and SDKs. That is, essentially, what killed IBM, or at least OS/2.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during the meetings where they discussed how they were going to charge people who brought usefulness to their systems and platforms. None of this -let's get developers onboard so our users have a rich ecosystem of software! -. no, let's make ourselves irrelevant by driving creators away from our platform over to the competition so we can make a quick buck. It's baffling.

Pretty sure this computer is not Y2K compliant.
Anyways I used this, but the color version before. My school used these almost exclusively in their computer labs. In Elementary school they had used Apple IIe's where you just stuck a disk in the computer and turned it on. Then my parents moved and of course went to a different school district and their computers were all these IBM PS/2's that were networked. But from what I could remember they were used as consoles and so couldn't really function independently as configured. You turn the computer on and you had to log in with your school ID number, then you'd have access to various programs if you have it in your account.

With each year that we stray further from God's Light, people start to realize how nostalgic they are for old school computers like this and therefore their price and collectability skyrocket. Was just a few short years ago that everybody would balk at -those old beige boxes- which are now coming back into favor for a niche group of enthusiasts. Simpler times before -cyber security- and -high availability- were even coined terms.

25: 45 I may have a Math problem here - maybe it's related to me being German and not speaking English natively, BUT:
If the radius of a circle is 14, wouldnt the circumference (German: Umfang) not be: radius times 2 times Pi? 14 - 2 - 3. 14 is no where near 28: D
Same goes with the second calculation: diameter is radius times 2. If the diameter measures 1, then the circumference should be: 1 - 3. 14. Where am I wrong?

Did anyone else pause it at -30: 55 and find all the words in the crossword puzzle. Hint: All but 'Edutainment' are diagonal, and a couple are diagonal from right to left. Not backwards they just ascend the seeming wrong way. Would've been a nice novelty if most of em weren't diagonal in a similar way. Still, IBM had me scratchin my noggin on a -game- put out when I was barely a year old in 1984. LOVE this old stuff.

My first work computer was a PS/2 model 25. At home I had a Commodore C128D with an added 1581 disk drive. I ran Geos on the commodore and personally purchased the MSDOS version of same for the work computer. Since the 1581 DD could read/write the MSDOS disks I could jump back and forth between the two systems easily. It kept my 8-bit commodore relevant for many years further than it would have been (I think into the 90s.

It may have been a low-end model but; it's these sort of -budget- systems that got PC's into homes, Schools and offices. That is a huge boost in the personal computing power available to an individual over the prior 8-bit microcomputer they probably had before if anything at all.
It was amazing what we could get these machines to do despite their hardware limitations compared to the high-end systems back in the day.

This was fun to watch. I can barely remember sitting in front of a huge (seams big then) amber color monochrome display w/ a bix block seaker (looked like drive speaker) and external phone handset modem and cassette tape drive. It was from the mid 80's still working. My dad had a Sony RGB 800 line colour 25- gaming monitor w/ component speakers and added TV tuner for cable. Fun old tech.
