I feel like a Tech Tales on the history of Screen Savers could be interesting. What was it about old monitors that needed screen savers? How were they built that caused this happen? How long till these problems became so prominent that there was demand for a solution? Who was it that stepped up to the plate and came with the screen saver? What is it about newer monitors that made screen savers no longer necessary and when about would you say screen savers became -obsolete-? etc.

When thinking about After Dark games, my mind immediately goes to Lunatic Fringe, which we used to play on Macs at my old school. because it was a Mac screen saver, you could use the keyboard but if you bumped the mouse your game was over. Our teacher developed the ability to unplug the mouse without moving it purely because of that.

okay so there was a game that I played around the same time that this one came out. It was a platform game and I swear that the main character was a penguin. There were some levels that were in a haunted house and there was bats that would fly from the roof. I CANT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. HELP

omg i cant believe you covered after dark games and i never knew about it. i usually just watched ur sims stuff lol. i was born in 2000 and my whole fam would play after dark games religiously. i always got stuck on mahjong because i was like 4 and didnt understand. but HULA GIRL AND TOASTER RUN WAS THE JAM.

I remember a fun little screen saver of a guy stranded on a small island with a single palm tree, and sillly stuff kept happening to him. Don't remember the title or the company it was from. Ah the times when a screen saver was more fun and talked about then most of the games that were available on the system -_-

Take an Angry Birds game, replace the birds with the flying toasters and the pigs with evil household appliances and you should one hit of a game.
I still remember the screensavers that I had on the Macintosh computers that I used as a kid. The Flying Toasters deserve a comeback from obscurity.

This was my first experience at video games. I was to young to understand companies and to see you cover this brings back so many memories of running to my grandmas and grandpas to play that box game or to mess around as the toaster. Thanks for sharing this bit of the past

haven't thought about this game in a long time. remember every single one of the minigames except mahjong, solitaire and the fish one most likely because i probably thought those were boring. somehow have absolutely no nostalgia for it even though i played it a lot as a kid.

I randomly remembered these while half asleep and I jumped up to search the one phrase I remembered from these games and found this video. I-d like to personally thank you for making this video because now I can sleep knowing this game actually exists.
