Y'know, sometimes you just wanna use your PC to light something on fire and hold your drink. Oddware has you covered with the Thermaltake Xray from 2004! Providing a 12V DC lighter alongside a cupholder in a single five and a quarter inch computer case drive bay

Remember when this came about crazy! Me and friends at college could not actually find one though for sale at a reasonable price! (oh and 2004 is about bang on for time they came out btw) Around the time there was also a -coffee- holder CD drive (just like the memes suggest but this was actually for real) and even a PC case made inside a coffee machine IIR (the coffee pc might have been an April fools or old vintage meme not sure) Around this time loads of odd stuff was happening. IMO this was the -golden age- for allot of things computer related. Everything was becoming main stream and art/design styles were super whacky this is same era as the max power cars and PC's with cathode tube lighting and those bubble lamp lava lamp style pc cases. Remember allot of -chrome- also around the time and ninja style cases lol.

Had this same one when it was new in the 2004 or 5 and yo we definitely used that thing. My ex filled the -cupholder- lol with roaches not real roaches. but yo I can't believe you found one of these.
It was awesome! it was in a xp black pc for me back then athlon64 2gigs ocz ram I think I still had a ATI-AIW-9800pro for gfx and I will say that I felt it was a bit shoddy on the lighter part and thought it would blow my psu and yeah it works with any charger or electric item
Anyway always love your content here at LGR

Those of us who have had the privilege of repairing case of a PC used by a heavy smoker will attest, it's not pleasant experience at all! -dusty- and -yellow- are two polite words to describe the fun, then of course the stench of stale cigarettes is just a dream especially as the smell of nicotine will not come off your fingers for at least a day or two afterwards! I'm so glad people can't smoke in offices anymore.

I remember wanting one of these back in high school. I also wanted lcd thermometers and fan controls and any other pointless accessories!
I imagine it works great, I do wonder if you used it while your PSU was already near it's max, say if you installed it in a dell or hp with 240-300w, had a graphics card, were pushing it and popped in the lighter. Would the psu just kill itself?

pretty sure most of my computer fans have been thermaltake. Also, I get people who regularly ask if the company I work for sells computer power supplies because they want to make a cheap lab power supply. After working with DC power supplies and making enough make shift things, things like this isn't amazingly surprising honestly.

Two things:
1) I smoked a pipe for a few decades. those aren't great for lighting a pipe; most of mine had too narrow and deep a bowl.
2) the two guys I know who had those? They kept an ashtray in it.
Wait, no, 3 thigns:
3) one of the guys installed one in his car in the 1 space DIN automotive panel 7- bay.

Back when I was a tech, nicotine and tar mixed with dust caked on to everything was one of the biggest hardware problems we'd see. Heat sinks clogged, fans not spinning. Motherboards that didn't automatically shut things off when things started cooking. Fun times. Cigarettes don't just kill people, they kill PCs too.

I know where the cup holder idea is from. I think I've heard of people working in the PC warranty industry talk about getting calls of old people complaining of their cup holder being broken. -But we don't have any cup holders on the PC we sold you-. Turns out people were using CD drives as cup holders.

Just bought one of these. 7 of them came up for sale on ebay out of nowhere, after having never been listed before. Literally, it shows zero sold listings no matter what search terms I use for this thing. Seems a bunch of us saw this video and setup ebay alerts, because 5 of the 7 sold out in four minutes.

HEY! Somebody actuall; y knows about this thing. I thought I was the only one. Bought one back in 2006 or 7. Basically I was buying stuff from Xoxide back in the day. I saw this thing and thought -That's dumb as hell, I NEED IT. - Never used it, but I'm keeping it forever.
