Taking a deep dive into the new Microsoft Flight Simulator! FS2020 has been one of my most-anticipated releases in a long time, what an absolute technical achievement. It's got its quirks and limitations, no doubt about it, but this is a flight sim with a bright future! arty: I've always loved your voice LGR. you can probably pursuade me to buy your 2080Ti lol. One thing i learnt from MSFS 2020 other than photo-realism is truly upon us - 30fps is perfectly fine for flight sims! I am used to playing FPS/racing games at 60fps but surprisingly 30fps is -smooth enough- probably becos how sloth-like civilian aeroplanes move in the air lol. Im on a 9900K/2080Ti and playing at 3440x1440 and having averages of 40-48 fps and dips of 35-39 fps flying in dense New York is more than palatable. Tokyo at night? When pigs can fly.

1st time I heard about that. I think the hardcore guys will stick to X 'cause all of the mods and additional content available. My story with X: Spend around 10 hrs to get mods working+100 $ for additional content needed. (100 $ are not that much, trust me lol) Then, needed 30+ hrs of practice. Finally, I was able to do my Test flight. Passed it, I was part of one of the 'Airlines'. (They're like Clans/Guilds basically) After 30+ hrs, I got bored by ppl flaming eachother which planes to use/buy. Ppl who've got far more knowledge about Aviation in general than I will ever have. I probably have the chance to buy a lil AIrplane myself irl someday. Or even better, a Helicopter. (My favourites are the Aloutte III or the old Bell's they used in the korean War) Needless to mention that I will never touch any Flight Sim again. (Including Eve Online) And yes, I also tryed to get into DCS World. No Questions, plox! 1+ on one side: In case of an emergency Scenario were both Pilots are incapable of flying the machine, I'm probably able to land that thing safely.

Yeah, the map view of my side of town in this game is at a minimum of 3 years ago. Probably farther away. And its the biggest city in the US. Thought it would have more. Also found that Buckingham Palace is a JOKE. Seriously, they stuck some generic looking 3D buildings where it should be and called it good. The game is fun for sure but I wish the maps were up to date. My apartments are right in line with a small buisness airport. The roads are (semi) visible but its all tree's where they ought to be. And the road nearby was recently expanded but that also isnt accurate and is the old set up. All of these changes were well before the game released. Its a fun game but they should at least make sure the maps are accurate.

8: 43 Welcome! Welcome to City 17! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. I thought so much of City 17 that I elected to establish my administration here, in the Citadel so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I've been proud to call City 17 my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown - welcome to City 17. It's safer here.

Love the video, to be honest, its a nice game, but inside aircraft its meh at best.
Also, the you crashed messages are boring. Surely its not that hard to provide a graphical crash. I know its a -simulator- but cmon itd be nice to try and continue to land after the crap -you crashed- messages.
Its nice but for the investment required in order to enjoy the game id rather keep my cashola thanks.

It seems likely they'll add seasonal vegetation, I remember reading that winter & summer imagery was used so the calculations could determine which trees were deciduous. I suppose that could've been done just to determine the general species of trees, but if they have that data, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch to imagine they'll implement it at some point.

This is SO FREAKING COOL! This is literally inspiring me to do a new up to date build!
And it will probably never happen, but it would be AMAZING if this game somehow got a release on modern game consoles. Hell, I would buy a new Xbox just to play this, and I have never purchased an Xbox console in my entire life as I have always been a Playstation guy!

So if I make a flight plan that is farther than my aircraft can fly without having to stop to refuel, and I then let the AI fly the airplane, will it find an airport on the way and land to refuel? Or will it (and I'm guessing this is the right answer) just run out of gas and float down to the ground and crash? I gotta experiment with that.

I'm confused so this 100 GB install is just Google Earth and planes and if you want to have detailed areas you have to buy a mod from the store that someone else besides Microsoft made hmm it's genius because Microsoft doesn't have to do anything no more they just have to let modders do it for them and sell their mods like Bethesda lol

This is gaming in 2020, folks.
Not a fan of simulators, but man, once my dad asked me to give him one (he doesn't play games, my jaw is on the floor with all the stuff possible in here.
He's already learning the ropes with an older game and I plan to give him access to this one on my rig while I'm away.
Merry Christmas, dad!
