Building the Metalfish Y2 Aquarium PC! A Windows 11 Fish Tank
video description
3 gallons would be okay (not ideal) for a betta, but I wouldn't put much else in there. Maybe one Pea Puffer?
What it would be ideal for would be snails and/or shrimp! (Although a snail would need a lid.
If I had it, I'd make sure the temp was stable and livable, add some live plants and a small piece of cholla wood, and maybe a month later I'd add some Cherry Shrimps!

I don't think that the heat would be as big an issue as people think. I mean I would rather see all the fans swapped out for ones that are more efficient and effective overall, but most fish need a fairly warm tank to begin with. Also I know that it doesn't look like it, but the pump was put in upside down. The intake should be at the bottom so you don't accidentally run it dry, I know it seems counter intuitive because the wires are at the bottom but if the pump is constructed well the wires will be submersible. Usually wires for pumps are hidden in the body of the pump and do exit through the top but it appears that some corners may have been cut there to optimize space in the tank.
It would be kinda fun to see what Serpa Designs would do with a small tank like this, I think LGR could do a great crossover episode here.

God this thing is absurd. I see why you like it! Lol. I don't know if would have made more sense putting the tank on the bottom, but that's not how they designed this mess (maybe if they had some metal supports for the corner joints going the full length of the tank, and extending enough to hold the 'tower'; then you wouldn't have to put the weight of the computer on the glass itself. Best of luck getting that tank off of there to move it. Keep those water jugs handy!
Speaking of water, I hope the water situation in your area gets straightened out soon. What a terrible thing to happen to a whole city, especially right before Christmas! I wish you the best, Clint. Take care of yourself

Looks cool. I can see it's a disaster waiting to happen though. Especially with no lid. I'm not even sure if it's legal?
I definitely would have used deionised/distilled water so it doesn t get dirty.
I wouldn t use a tank like this for any real fish, it's far too small, plus you ll need filters and regular cleaning. Even if you did, when cleaning there d be splashes etc so certainly not worth the risk.
Happy new year though!

That B550 mini itx board is pretty nice, the 4500 is a bit meh performance wise, specially compared too the 3600 you can probably pick up used cheaper then this cpu.
It's holding back something like a rtx 3060 ti & rtx 3070 in some games so pairing it up with a cheaper midrange card is really the sweet spot for it.
AMD Speedruns Destruction of Goodwill (R5 4500 CPU Review) By gamersnexus shows it well there.

Should have a French gutter between the tank and computer. Would not help with a catastrophic failure but would ensure a errant drop never makes it into the computer.
In fact I think it could be modified by either replacing the acrylic sheet that broke in shipping or putting on top of it so that any water leakage would be redirected to an empty reservoir behind it. If you have the time and resources.

All those frustrations! The very essence of This will be really funny to look back on, but right now I don't want to talk about it.
Kind of wondering if anyone's made something like this but for a reptile terrarium instead. Could be kinda cute to have a scaly little buddy sitting on the warm spot above the graphics card whenever you're gaming.

The issue with this tank would be the temperature differentials. Any high-end gaming for long periods is gonna spike the temperature at least subtly and even some differences in temps can disturb fish. If you just did a plants-only setup this might be cool, otherwise it seems like something that would seriously stress out the fish.

Could be helpful in the case you are robbed, but then again the robber would probably just dump it on the floor. I cringe at the thought of having to keep that open top clean from all the dust. I would have covered the top and made it into a CPU cooler tank. This could be done with the stuff and the light still in place.

I make videos about aquatic creatures and I love the Lian li tank from 2003 and have always wanted a modern version of it. This isn t it though, it s too small for any fish and quite poorly designed. Hopefully someone else will make something more like the lian li one one day soon

I'm a PC builder by profession who just got into the fishkeeping hobby. Coincidentally, I just finished cleaning my PC and doing water change on my two tanks. This video couldn't have come at a better time. Right when I'm sat to take a rest and some ice cream. Perfect!

I could imagine the fishes when they swim in this tank and seeing the duke bust like:
Ah yes! An ancient relic made by human-hands gifted to us that must be an image of their god they are praying to. Fascinating, majestic and very inspirational.

The cheap price and the idea of water spilling around / dripping down the side of the case / getting knocked over or something gives me fair anxiety lol. Also you are right that heating up fish is a bad idea, small temperature changes can kill them!

Man. that thing would be perfect for a little shallow saltwater reef or mangrove setup. I REALLY want one. Most reef tanks have a chiller anyway to dissipate heat from lights and pumps, as well as a heater. The shape and aesthetic is perfect.
