An LGR Oddware Christmas: The Gift of Tech Nonsense

The Clone has come up with three odd gifts. Let's see what we've got! Salem: By the way, I found the app that is used for gift number 2, last updated in May 2020, that has the same exact image on the box. HOwever, the app apparently has half the functionality not working.

I'm not sure what's the sheer fascination of these modern manufacturers of electronic equipment with the internet connectivity, or the heavy reliance on the mobile phone apps in general.
It's a fun little gimmick and a novelty at best, but restricting a majority of the functionality to the phone apps is getting rather excessive at this point. Not only this is a severe blow on the longevity of the product, but it wholly ensures that you wouldn't be able to use your electronics in case the internet has connectivity issues or the app detects any sort of problem.
Modernity is a good thing to embrace, but so is the common sense, which these companies lack by a long margin.

The Little People from the 70s/80s were like an 1 tall. Choking hazards. I survived, I also let my kid play with the ones I had. She survived also. I don't remember the Xmas Little People game, but when I babysat in the 90s, Our library had computers and games for the kids to play, so I would take the kids to the library in winter to play them, I remember a few little people games. Now the Library kids area is all tablets with loaded games.

Those printer struggles reminds me why I switched to laser so many years ago. Expensive up front, the toner carts are expensive but they last quite a long time, not quite as much quality in color prints as an inkjet. Most importantly even if you haven't printed anything for months it will start up and print flawlessly, and the ink will never dry up.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, Clint! I m sure I m not the only one here that associates Christmas with the most memorable tech acquisitions of my early years, such as my Atari VCS, the first family home computer, boxed PC games, and probably my biggest score (for a 11 year old) - that full size Millennium Falcon

So, two things.
First, choosing from the Duke Nukem soundtrack for the lights. very on brand.
Second, is the clone conversing with Clint, and only he understands, while all we hear is Christmas?
Aw well, the Christmas clone saga has never made sense, and that's why I love it. :)

On the holiday lights that can make the bulbs smaller, if it's for a computer or laptop this should make them smaller.
. And I've actually seen some fairly tiny bulbs and I know for a fact they exist. And oddly enough on a regular tree so yeah they should have gone smaller.

I can understand computer lights but why so big? Why not mini led or something? I have a tiny christmas tree I got in the 90s for my chihuahua, hahaha, and it has the mini led lights, Used to sit it at the pc each year. Merry Christmas Clint!

I have at least 4 or more printers that work but are dried up. I tried many things to get the ink to flow but never had any luck. Must be well over 10 yrs since i bought or used one. Need to give them all to Salvation Army or Goodwill.

I swear, with everything becoming 'connected', there'll soon come a time when you can't flush your toilet without updating it, then one day the app will no longer connect to the server and it will stop working forever.

My brother and I had that Fisher Price set. My mom still has the toys in her Christmas stuff. I used to play the game fairly often around Christmas time for several years. I wonder what happened to the software.

Oh how I miss the days when products came with software on a CD or floppy disc. At least then you could still use it via legacy hardware. You'd think products would be required to offer the original software online. Sad.

7: 20 I wonder if you got an extention or cut away the shroud if you could just plug the lights into an amp and have them flash with the music ( _that you can't hear because you have lights instead of speakers_ )

One of those USB christmas trees shorted out the server at one of our dental clients. The server was in the front desk area and the ladies at the front desk didn't have any free USB ports on her PC.

With that Fisher-Price activity center, I had a sudden and stark realization: Kids toy packaging has _not changed_ in almost 35 years. I seriously thought that thing was made in 2010.
