Too bad Christopher and the west cheery picks these ww2 battles but don't let, or remind the public of why Germany, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Estonia Latvia, Japan etc went to war because of the Treaty of Versailles which enslaved people of Germany. It's hard for the Americans to understand when they haven't been told all the facts. Western opinions seemed to be based on Savivng Private Ryan, or DDay. Completely onsided. I guess the civil war was the same, the southerners the bad guys? Take look look in the Sears tower Chicago to see original photos of concentration camps. Too bad facts from Mikhail Gorbachev, David Irving's findings etc are absent. Who was the Invader? Yep Englis and American who jumped into bed with Stalin. I like blondes and beer and thanks Allied WAR Crimes, Europe will be under ARAB rule in the future. Great job assholes

You know looper given the way Hollywood likes to distort historical facts for artistic sake. As a history buff the points you made out are acceptable like Bf-109 noise paint because it was actually used. That French destroyer well if there something wrong it is the fact it is a 1960's design. What made it viable to use was the fact it was stripped of the modern radars, ASW equipment and missile launchers. As to the little boats were the played the key role was in ferrying the troops from the beach to larger ships. Give Nolan credit for not going CGI crazy. Then we could have Michael Bay make this or some has been left tard producer/director make it, putting characters in the movie just to make it socially acceptable and politically correct and let not forget the political commentary.

The scene where Kenneth's officer character says he'll not be leaving and goes to help the French seemed confusing to me. I know it's supposed to be sentimental, but if the nazis have the beach surrounded (implied when Hardy gets arrested) and are closing in, is he going to try to sneak past them in his officer uniform? If he doesn't have to sneak past the nazis, he still is alone and no longer has his men to command, the only soldiers he's legally bound to command. He's not authorized to command any French soldiers and his only job in France would be to either be some intermediary or attache, telling the French what to do maybe. Would need a translator too, he wouldn't understand what any French were saying. Seems like he'd be less useful to the French than an actual French officer

This falls far short of what was wrong with this movie. How about the white wash of the solders. The majority of the troops were from places like India and other territories under British rule. Not white brits. Plus love seeing modern technology in the background. Talk about attention detail. The beach was clean, go look at the mess in real photos. What they were too any to get rusted junk the throw around the beach. Then we had the final clam tis screen show that the vaunted Spitfire was really only powered by a rubber band I guess seeing they were tooo lazy to even think about something like an engine block vice just a stick holding a prop. This was one of the worse productions I have ever seen.

This Dunkirk film is the kings new clothes, Because arty film critics started calling it a masterpiece because it showed so little and had an awful soundtrack. IT showed NOTHING of the real event, it didnt show the fight the French put up with Germans it also doesn't show them either, in a WW2 film! showing a few French soldiers in pristine uniforms and behind brand new and untouched sand bags doesn't really convey the struggle they actually had and the few small craft sand warships shown would have been laughable If it were not so disrespectful of the men that had to live that event. The recent 100% hight ratings given out by film critics for appalling films shows the state of modern filmaking

I cant see lots of people talking about how French soldiers were forgotten in that movie, despite the fact that THEY made this evacuation possible by fighting the Germans at one against twenty.
The German commanding officers themselves said in their war diary that they were amazed to see a few thousandS French soldiers holding back tens of thousands of German infantry, armored cavalry and air force.
They also said that dunkirk was a military disaster for Germany.
All thanks to the heroism of the forgotten French soliders who saved tens of thousands of British troops, who wouldnt fight at their side to save theirvown lives.

This film was an outrage, it didnt just get a few thing wrong it missed out most of the what this actually looked like. Thousands of vehicles, thousands of men and French and German soldiers.
It also missed out the huge flotilla of boats and ships the miracle of that time. In the cinema I was shocked to see how few soldiers he had shown who were waiting to got to safety then
I found out recently that of the few hundred we DO see the rows in the back were filled out with dummies. I cant see what he spent the millions of production money he spent

Always the same pattern made by Hollywood and generally anglosaxon movies The fierce and brave british soldier and the pathetic, dirty, badly shaved miserable french soldier. Two things you forgot Mr Nolah 1) The weather was absolutely wonderful at Dunkirk those days (sun was shining and sky perfectly blue) not shown in your movie and 2) there were not french barricades in the city intra muros, because french soldiers were off the city fighting against germans to ease the british flee. This the truth and the rest is litterature.

The Dunkirk miracle is a myth.
This so-called miracle was due to the fierce resistance of the french soldier. The german General Guderian admitted himself Dunkirk was a disaster, because of the brave french holding the lines before the german army (his words)
But the real heroes were dead or prisonered just after, and forgotten. Sad.
(Im french but my gd pa fought the allies including the french in the german army, its just a fact, this movie didnt tell all the truth, but its a movie)
