Disaster Films You Need To See Before You Die WARPHEAD: My Dad took me and my little brother to see The Poseidon Adventure on December 24th 1972. Mom got him to take us out of the house so she could wrap our Christmas presents. I think it was also a way to get us out of her hair because we were all hopped up on candy and excitement due to Christmas Day being tomorrow.
On December 24, 1974 Dad took us to see The Towering Inferno for the same reasons listed above. I really had a fantastic childhood.

Twister! i had to go to the lobby because the tornado special effects were so ridiculous that I couldn't stop laughing. With all the film footage available from real life occurrences, there was no reason for the effects to be so bad. (the only worse movie was Day After Tomorrow with its triple tornadoes tearing up LA.

Aftershock 2010 (chinese) is by far the best earthquake movie ever. Download some subtitles and watch this movie. I sob every time I watch it. The destruction scenes are amazing but the drama and raw emotions are real and intense. Unforgettable movie. This one and The Impossible are tied at #1 for me.

Can anyone give me a link to the movie The Wave with english subtitles. I've looked everywhere, and can't find it. The ones I find are without english subtitlies. I don't have netflix, so I can't watch it on there. Please don't give me a irrelevant spam link. I would like to watch the movie.

I'm a huge fan of disaster/apocalypse movies, and I think you missed a lot of good ones. For those who are interested, here are some recommendations in no particular order: Earthquake, The Hindenberg, Threads, Testament, The Bay, The Tower, End Day, Last Night.

The Perfect Storm! Come on? That should've at least warranted an honorable mention. From the cast, the plot and dramatic story line. Yes, I know it only hit a single fishing boat and not ravage an entire high rise or countryside, but still a damn fine movie.

We sure as hell don't have enough propellant left in the Messiah to maneuver with. how are we supposed to get back off the surface once we've gone down there?
We don't.
Well look at the bright side, we'll all have high schools named after us.

I was 8 yrs old when I snuck into the theatre to the Poseidon Adventure, scared the shit out of me but I've never forgotten it, years later I read the book which is even better. Ive had a lifelong obsession with disaster and horror movies ever since.

i've seen all the movies in the video. dante's peak and volcanoes had some 'funny' stuff like car ran above the lava and the tire's rubber didn't melt instantly in dante's peak and the way firefighters sprayed water to lava with incorrectly target spot!

I would also recommend San Andreas for it's well written and acted characters. Alongside Contagion for it's chilling realism and pretty spot bollock on social commentary on what certain types of people would do/have done in reality.
