The Untold Truth Of Comedian Mitch Hedberg
video description
What an amazing stand-up comedian Mitch Hedberg was, and how incredibly supportive he was of new comedians trying to break out into the scene. I wish I had had the chance to see him in person. His act is so genuine and honest. And despite his anxiety, he really connected with audiences on an altogether new level. What a creative genius the world has lost. I'm so glad he is appearing on YouTube in 2020, so people can see how great he was.

You cannot self medicate or ween down yourself on a drug like heroin because the withdrawals are so havoc wreaking on your body ( this also applies to any narcotic pain pills and meds. The moment he made that statement, someone SHOULD have intervened because that was actually his self loathing / fullfilling way to convince himself he wasn't an addict. If you want imo one of the best ways to describe heroin / opiote addiction in lay terms picture it as you are a caterpillar. You feel ignorant and safe while under its effects not even realizing a bird or other predator can easily kill / eat you When you first start this type of drug and especially if you've never taken it, you will like the pain control it can provide, you even become highly motivated for about 30 - 45 mins depending on your body. You will then become oddly quiet and regardless of the temperature, begin sweating like hell and increasingly nauseous. You will then prolly feel the urge to puke, followed by a vampiric thirst. In this stage. Your body is an amazing thing especially when it wants life. The problem is it ALSO works againt your comfort in this same way and sadly that first time and after you puke from that momeny your body begins a tolerance factor which exponentially gets worse as the tolerance raises. I've lost too many to heroin, more suicide than overdose, unless I count committing suicide with dope. I overdosed twice when fentanyl was being introduced. I was in the hospital for a week from my abscesses. They cut my arms to almost to the bone cause I had missed a few shots but kept trying till I got blood back. I was very close to death. It's unfair but don't force someone into rehab. If they don't want to stop they'll get out and bang up what they were doing after not having it for a while and it's always a crap shoot cause you don't know how pure or what it's cut with and they die because a loved one made them get help. It's not fair but that's what it is. I love all of us addicts and our families. God bless and stay in the fight the best you can.

Super upsetting about his Comedy Central set. Comedy Central was my be all end all go to choice for stand up way back when. In hindsight I cant say it was really that good a source of stand up since all the jokes are watered down. However, Comedy Central presents had some truly talented comics, whom they gave much deserved exposure. Outrageously funny people. Demetri Martin is one of my faves.

Hedberg was a dear individual who tried to connect with others through laughter. Helpi g other comics and going outside the norm to help others even at his lowest was altruistic. Maybe if someone had done the same for him he'd still be alive. This guy was a friend to people when they were nobody's. Hedberg was on Heath Ledgers level. Under rated for sure!

The story of Mitch Hedberg is a great and tragic one. You mention his heroine addiction and stated he never brought it up on stage, that is false. The very special highlighted in this video he says that he is a heroine addict. It came across awkward and the crowd couldn't seem to figure out if it was a joke and where the delivery or punchline was.

Ugh, my heart. So many people blame drug abusers for having an addiction, but if they had any control over it, it wouldn't be called an addiction. Yeah, they probably shouldn't have tried it in the first place, but we don't know the circumstances, so we cannot place blame. Addiction is a serious problem. Stay safe, everyone.

I saw him perform twice in Sacramento at the Punchline. True comedic genius. I sat front row the 2nd time I saw him and it's true about him performing with his eyes closed. The only time he opened his eyes thru his whole set is when he roasted a heckler for talking about his eyes being closed. I laughed so hard I started crying
