truth be told I definatley think they met before either time travel or not not only that but how does he not know tony and his avengers after ultron and him creating vision even that I hope avengers 4 actually opens up with tony and thanos
sitting on the porch talking and having a drink or two tony actually saying and agreeing with thanos about the universe but says its not my way theres always a different way but it gives us more respect of the two enemies and thanos lets tony walk get on the spaceship and fly away in the end

The soul stone gives the beholder KNOWLEDGE about who he meets which explains the part were red skull met with Thanos & Gamora knowing who they were in addition to their parents.
This explains why Thanos said to Tony You are not the only one cursed with knowledge.
I also want to add that Thanos might've known Howard Stark in the past before Tony was born because Howard retreived the Tesseract (Space Stone) back during Captain America The First Avenger so he knows that Tony is Howard's son as well.

One loki told him about Tony, 2 he saw him with the missile and how he stopped the events of Avengers 1 and 3 the events of AOU was caused by Thanos and thats why in the wnd credits he say If you want something right, you got to do it your self. Or something close to that. Meaning he was behind what made ultron, ultron and had knowledge on the heros way before arriving on Earth.

I think because Tony Stark is genetically engineered that's why he has a genius intellect where Thanos referred as cursed with knowledge, reference from Iron Man Secret Origins. When Tony's parents were not able to conceive but the help with alien technology they were able to have Tony. And Thanos caught that alien robot who helped them, which he used also the technology stored in it for his army, from then on he knew Tony Stark from the stored memory.

When Thanos and gamora go to vormir and red skull calls them by name, thanos says you know us? And red skull says its my CURSE to know.
In the fight with iron man when thanos calls stark by name and he says you know me? Thanos says I do, youre not the only one CURSED with knowledge
It might just be coincidence, but I love the mirroring of the same convo at 2 different times in the movie.

Wait that doesn't make any sense. If they go back in time to defeat thanos and succeed, then wouldn't the events of infinity war never have happened? Because they defeated him in the past. So you saying Thanos knows who Tony is in infinity war because they fought in the past doesn't make any sense. And even if infinity war does happen after they go back in time to defeat him that means they fail then too because thanos still wins in the end.

ON the first trailer that infinity war there are to scene that didn't make it to the final movie, the FIRST that shows Bruce holding his glasses behind him the hulk buster and the last scene showing captain america, black partner and the hulk running. i noticed that that was the same place where Thanos toke the mind stone from vision THIS TWO SCENE MIGHT BE IN AVENGERS 4. don't you thing?

Thanos even claimed that he is cursed with knowledge. Thanos knew who Stark was, and many many other things I am sure, because of the curse of the Soul Stone. it is literally given in the movie.
