I remember having an actual moment when I realized it wasn't (Her - Me - Own. I felt like my devout life as a fan until then was a lie. Totally a great move by Rowling to set the record straight without taking away from the narrative and getting everyone on the same page with such an important character. Long live the Queen!

Does anyone have that odd scenario where they hear a name they have NEVER heard before? And all of a sudden you start meeting people with that name. Like with Hermione, I thought it was a very unique name. Until I saw a waitress who had the same name. To which I thought Uh, the more you know.

I suppose I was born at a time when this name was still in use and had not favor of girl being given this name at birth. And perhaps seeing many old movies made in the UK, where names of the late 19th early 20th century were used for characters then.

First off, this isn't a theory. It's a name pronunciation. Second of all, she confirmed this shortly after Book 4 came out. The theorizer simply wasn't paying attention the first time and is now receiving all the credit because why not?

well im from greece and hermione is actually a somehow common greek name except that the pronouncation of it (in greece) is er-mie-OH-knee but i dont think i ever had a problem on how to pronounce it. Ik that u dont care but anyway
