Marvel TV Shows You Completely Forgot About
video description
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people have forgotten a time when the vast, vast majority of the general population didn't know ANY of these characters from a hole in the ground.
Also, Blade: The Series might have started off with some perceptual adjustment issues, but damn that show was fantastic by the end of the season. Shame it never continued past that cliffhanger. And again, this was a small network doing a legit superhero TV show - might not seem like a big deal now, but in 2006 that show was original AF.

The problem with the avengers series was property rights. While marvel had sold the TV/film rights to several of their characters. It wasn't just to Fox studios. And they kept the rights to several of their most popular heros like Captain America and iron Man. While their X-Men cartoon was wildly successful due to owning the rights for the entire X-Men cast, they didn't have the same for the avengers. They only owned the rights for falcon and other b-list members of the team. It would be like trying to do a Power Rangers show but you only have the rights to the characters regular personas and the villians. You couldn't show any of the rangers in costume or any of the zords. It just doesn't work.

Blade was a fun show, but Mutant X. man I loved that one ( though I hated that Emma was killed off. Mutant X, Andromeda, VIP and Viper were my Saturdays for years, I miss those shows: /
also, in addition to that Generation X TV movie ( which btw, I enjoyed for how cheesy it was. Matt Frewer was a riot ) they did a really bad Nick Fury TV movie starring the Hoff as the titular SHIELD agent/director.
and another fun fact: Supaidaman actually appears in a massive Tokusatsu team-up movie alongside multiple Super Sentai, Kamen Rider & Metal Heroes characters. I forget which one, but look up Super Hero Taisen.

I remember when Marvel tried to spin off Thor and Daredevil from their Incredible Hulk series. Can you taste the cheese? It sits right next to the Reb Brown Captain America movies and the Nicholas Hammond The Amazing Spider-Man series. And let us not forget that Doctor Strange was given a pilot, too.
Ah, the 1970s and 1980s would have has a lovely Marvel Universe. Spider-Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Daredevil. and ending with David Hasselhof's Nick Fury to bring them all together as the Avengers.

I liked Mutant X. I remember hearing about the law suite before it aired. I was sorry to see the show end, but it was nice to see Victoria Pratt in another series after Cleopatra 2525 and Xena. Blade the Series, that wasn't very good. Blade seemed to have levelled down during the switch to TV. Just like Robocop the Series when it went to TV, it also levelled down. Nightman was an interesting show to say the least. Similar production values as Black Scorpion, but not as much fun.

I actually have Mutant X on DVD. I pop it on from time to time. Also remember staying home to watch Generation X when my family was going out for the night because they were only going to air it once and that was it. We had a lot of strange shows early on but you had to start there to get to where we are now. Also pre x-men animated series there is one x-men movie cartoon I love called Pryde Of The X-Men and I wish I could have gotten more installments of that!

I loved Mutant X, it at least have us some form of the X-Men on the small screen. I wish The Gifted ran for another season and one idea for an episode would be Blink jumps the group to the alternative universe where they meet Adam and his Mutant X team or have one or two of the cast members from that show reprise their role in some way shape or form.

I remember The Silver Surfer animated show. I still say that it is possibly the most faithfully adapted Marvel show ever, along with the Spider Man and X-Men shows at the time. I hope the next Thor will be Beta Ray Bill. I heard about the Blade TV series, but without Wesley Snipes, it just wasn't the same. Snipes IS Blade.

Aside from the Japanese Supaidaman (which was before my time, as a long-time true Marvelite, I remember all the other shows mentioned. I always wondered why Mutant X was so weird, now I know the real reason. But w/ Marvel getting the X-movie rights back, I'm sure we'll see a lot more (better) shows based on mutants.
