Suicide Squad Director Makes Admission About Leto's Joker
video description
But nothing about the Joker worked. Nothing.
He should have been left out entirely, to be alluded to in some exposition about Harley's back story. He didn't need to be seen, or even featured in the movie.
And he would not have worked as the main antagonist, even if they did an excellent job with him, simply because part of the idea of Suicide Squad is Harley, on a team, being a team player with her new pals. Well, she is unquestionably loyal to the Joker, in general. With him as the main bad guy, she'd either be working with him (and not part of the titular group) or she'd betray the group at the end (which wouldn't sit well with audiences.
Jared Leto's Joker wasn't misused. He didn't have aspects of him that didn't work.
He was, utterly and entirely, trash. And I don't see any reworking of the plot, or excessively minor physical alterations, that would have made him more appealing, or worthwhile.

Even this approx 3 minute clip shows there must have been hours of footage filmed then chopped up to form around 10mins of joker footage.
This movie appears to have been destroyed in the editing room / post production.
Or maybe there was never a solid vision of what the movie was ever meant to be.
I'm totally not interested in seeing 'Extra Edition' 'Extended Edition' 'Super Cut'.
I just want one version of a solid movie, only the true classics deserve any extended cut, T2, Aliens, etc.
This movie was possibly THE worst anti-climax in the last few years.
The fans and the studio still can't believe it went so wrong.
Had the most promising three trailers I have ever seen - the actual movie was an abomination.

Joker should have been the main bad guy.
Look, I think expanding the role and not chopping all of his scenes into overedited pieces of garbled mess could have improved the film. Leto is generally a very solid actor, so i imagine his raw performance was probably at least adequate. BUT, there's the small matter that anyone who plays the Joker now has to contend with of a rather iconic portrayal in relatively recent history. Even if I thought I were capable of making a good to excellent movie, I'd steer clear of the Joker for at least another decade or two.

Jared Leto's Joker wasn't bad in the slightest. His lack of character development, short screen time and the movie he was in, was.
What I mean is if we'd have actually SEEN Jared Leto's Joker kill Jason Todd, maybe in a seperate movie before Batman Vs Superman, and got his teeth smashed in and gave himself all the tattoo's whilst in Arkham. THEN he would have been a much better and more acceptable version of Joker. But
Ike the rest of the DCEU, everything was rushed or under developed, making for people having to fill in the blanks themselves.

I thought the movie was good. It was a good attempt at the story. I would have chosen to do something's a bit different but, all in all, entertaining. Could it have been better, yes! But. IT IS FAR BETTER THAN DAWN OF JUSTICE! This Joker had a different twist on the character but still a very good performance. I believe people just had more of a problem with the look versus the performance. It's VERY different from Ledgers but, the movie as a whole was meant to have a more fantasy or should I say comic book feel than Nolan's vision.

The Joker was played by a Latino actor once, if they were gonna spin the Joker as a gangster clown, there's plenty of source material when it comes to Latin gangsters and an obsession with gangster clown TATTOOS. Not to enforce stereotypes in film, but this would have given a great latino actor an amazing opportunity representing a badass villain in film. I don't know why directors automatically go for WHITE actors casting the Joker. Some have been great, Leto's was a missed opportunity.

As flawed as Suicide Squad was I didn't hate this version of the Joker and I don't blame Jared Leto for it. I think he was clearly given wrong directions and it seems like he was told his role was going to be completely different than what we saw in the final version. It just didn't make any sense how under utilized the character was, but what we did see was within the realm of a traditional Joker.

Jareds joker is unique. Not everyone can be hearh leadger. I like the chemistry between him ans margot. I like the fact that despite being shadowed by Ledgers joker he still try to make his own version. no one can outshine the joker before him. we all know that any joker after Heath will be either pass or flop. He pass for me, not the amazing-omigod-he-is-so-fockin-good but pass anyway

I felt like letos joker could have been robin while I never got into the comics and shows I do remember a episode or movie of one of the robins being corrupted by joke and taking his place. While he may not be portrayed as such that is how I viewed him in the movie because it showed a cameo of the fat/broken batman in the current movies when you see robins suit it makes more sense

Also why every actor and director wants to up being the Joker as the next best Joker. why cant they up the game being some other villain and bringing a fresh take on another Batman villain. there are plenty to choose from. Why cant somebody play methodically genius iteration of Penguin or say the Riddler etc etc
Maybe say cast Batista as the next Penguin or the Riddler just sayin
