Avatar was out for the better part of a decade, before I had a chance to see it. I was excited. Years, I had been hearing about it. How good it was, the acting, the special effects. I'm also a huge fan of James Cameron. So finally, one night, I sat down to watch it. I cleared my schedule. Decided it was Wulfe movie night, with no interruptions. Yeah I could not have been more disappointed. I made it to Big Blue Suitup scene one before I called it quits. I just don't believe any of it. I mean, I know it's fake, but I don't believe any of it in universe. I don't believe the characters, the setting, etc. I was not involved in a story, I was very aware I was watching a movie.

I worked as a projectionist for over a decade, a dead give-away that a movie was rubbish was that the distribution companies would start advertising it way ahead of the release date. They did this to build as much anticipation as they could, because they knew as soon as it hit the screens word-of-mouth would kill it very quickly so they had to rake as much from it as they could before it tanked. We could predict with alarming accuracy whether a movie was garbage just by observing this tactic. I haven't worked in the cinema game for over a decade now but I'm sure it's still the same.

I think the first movie Gems biggest issue is they tried to grab the new generation of kids thats how you know the ones behind it were way to old to be making that choice because even sponge bob added things in it that only an adult would pick up on to make the movie actually funny and a bit of a blast from the past before the scrap the original group. Anyhow they should of like you said stuff to the original marital and aimed more toward the generation that gem was made for and let the mom sell that shit on her daughter.

For movies that refuse to stay true to the source that people love, I wonder how the movies would have done if they just never attached themselves to a known source. Like if Jem and the Holograms changed their name, but otherwise was almost the same move, no reference of any kind to the cartoon Jem and the Holograms, just a move about a girl band; probably would have done better since it wouldn't have been slamed for knowingly ignoring the fans.

I saw Honky Tonk Freeway once. on TV. all I remember about it was one of the characters, a young nun who decided she didn't want to be one anymore, and the cast included the child actress (5: 23 in your video, in the purple plaid shirt) who played Barbara Eden's daughter in the short-lived Harper Valley PTA TV series.
I remember seeing a poster for Delgo once.

The movie Mother starting Jennifer Lawrence was a flop. Big time. The theater I worked as security. The movie had no more than 6 people and any given time seeing it. Those walked out in the middle demanding their money back. Plus the theater pulled it completely to make use of the screens to make room for the overwhelming sales for the movie it.

I remember that cartoon about the girl rock band. I think Pizazz (the main antagonist) gave me my first boner. Either her or Miss Evon from Pee Wee's Playhouse (that scene where she was on the rocking horse. The both gave me wood though.
I'll have to watch Honkey Tonk Freeway. Nuns, hillbillies and an elephant on skis? No way that can be bad.
