Actors Who Were Infamously Fired After Cameras Started Rolling Ken: The Gere/Stallone incident wasn't the only reason he was let go. Stallone said that Gere was too aggressive when they shot the scene where Stanley (Stallone) and Chico (Gere) were supposed to trade hits in their malt shop hangout. Another reason, as told by Perry King, the actor who replaced Gere as Chico said that Gere had to screen test for the role with King and Susan Blakely. They were doing an improvisation scene where King was hitting of Blakely and Gere was standing off in a corner brooding ala James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause. He was let go with the logic that Chico wouldn't let anyone move in on his girl. So Perry King got the role and when Stallone was trying to get his Rocky screenplay to be sold, United Artists execs, who wanted to buy the screenplay but not have Stallone play the lead, were shown a print of the film and they were sold on Stallone without realizing that they mistook King for Stallone so they really wanted King to play Rocky.

THE GREATEST CASTING CHANGE OF ALL TIME, IMHO was when they removed Eric Stolz from the role of Marty McFly after 2 months of shooting because he was too intense and not funny enough against the intensity of Christopher Loydd's Dr. Emmett Brown. the choice of Michael J. Fox was absolutely BRILLIANT. (who had been considered earlier but not cast). when you watch the clips of Eric playing Marty they fall completely FLAT. There is ZERO magic. With Michael it is pure GENIUS. (and that is not because of Eric's acting, because he is wonderful actor, but not the 'right' actor for the role. anymore than Michael would have been the 'right actor' for many of Eric's successful roles. Casting can often make or break a great script/movie.

I always understood the early errors/costume problems, at the beginning of production of Predator, combined with the green lighting, of production for Bloodsport, lead to JCVD quitting (via having issues with that first disaster of a costume?
Can you imagine if the producers, and director, of Predator, decided to tough it out regarding that very first (shite) costume of the main villan, the Predator? LMAO!

Hi I need help finding a movie of James Purefoy, who played as a Russian Sniper or whatever, and he had an sniper fight with a another guy, which James got killed. James were the bad guy (was a hired hit man, and this movie might have came out around late 90s early 2000. ive looked everywhere but cant find any leads.

Stallone was really an asshole to Gere. Sure, Gere was maybe a bit of a prima donna back then, but most actors are. Rumor has it Stallone is even the one responsible for spreading the whole gerbal being surgically removed from the rectum rumor that plagued Gere for years. Funny yes, but also not cool.

He was not fired but originally Will Smith was cast to play Neo in Matrix but chose instead to star in Wild Wild West. Keanu Reeves was than cast as Neo instead. Wild Wild West went on to make 222. 1 million and Matrix went on to make 463. 5 million. Not to mention that the Matrix went on to get two sequels.

I think James Purefoy would have made a better V. Hugo Weaving did a good job, but I just don't know. If you've ever heard James Purefoy speak with his welsh accent, it's like butter. I love James Purefoy though so I might be biased (I also like Hugo Weaving a lot, but just not as much)

PREDATOR: To be fair. The original suit was a red lobster /alien suit. This terrible design shut down production a good course of the way into filming. The reason he was fired was because they needed somebody taller to be in the new Predator suit which brought the filming back on track

What exactly was infamous about Dougray Scott being replaced in X-Men? The way I've heard the story in the past, it was a scheduling conflict. Also, I thought the Predator that Kevin Peter Hall played was a completely different design from the suit was van Damme was wearing.
reply

Van Damme had to be replaced. Who the hell would want to see a 56 alien go up against the six foot 3 time Mr Olympia? What were they going do, have the predator do martial arts? Kevin Peter Hall (RIP) who was 72 should have been the one and obviously only choice.
