I dont understand why so much hate for Will Smith? For you guys saying Keanu was the perfect cast for Matrix. No he was the only cast. Michael Keaton was the perfect cast for Batman until Christian and then Ben Affleck blew everyone away. About Aladdin, nobody would have played the role of the genie like Robin Williams did. His ability to mimic different cartoon voices was on another level so its ok to have a new incarnation of the genie. Take a deep breath people

Will is awesome but I don't think he could have pulled off being Neo. Keanu's dead pan, unemotional acting style and dedication to the action scenes is what made The Matrix series so big. The movie had a decent story but it was all about the special effects, action sequences and groundbreaking cinematography which would have been overwhelmed by Smith's charisma and sarcastic, comedic approach to dialogue. (At that time in his career) Just my opinion.

What Will Smith didn't realize was that they wanted him to play Trinity. That's why they gave him that pitch of jumping in air and time freezing.
They would obviously still need real actors to play the main roles, but he could act as a comic relief.
Fortunately he never ages, so he can do the reboot that will suck because it's a reboot.

Thank goodness he did because he would have ruined the film. Hes all hype and when people started questioning the hype the heat on him wore off. Time Smith and Jamie Foxx both get work based on old hype and not delivery and their films bomb now because they are built around who they were thought to be and not who they are.

Will Smith leading the Matrix universe would have made it look Deadpool-ish: a fantasized universe with overly superpowered baddies and a goofy hero in the middle. He wouldn't have ruined it, ans It would have still be a great success. but the Matrix would have left a complete different print in history.

You lost me the moment you said Lilly and Lana Wachowski directed it. Actually the Wachowski Brothers directed it later on their chemical imbalance took their penises well after directing this trilogy so please get it correct if your going to try and get it politically correct at all.

The Matrix remains today one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember seeing the trailers and getting really excited. I think I went to theater the first day the movie released and was amazed. Keanu Reeves was absolutely the best person to play the role of Neo.
