Charles Grady is the man who chopped his kids up of which Jack was told about in his interview. This is why Delbert Grady has no recollection of that at all.
Delbert speaks to Jack as Jack's father who was staying there at that particular moment recreating 1921. Jack's father was the caretaker (you've always been the caretaker.

If you take a look at Shelley Duvall who played the mother and Jack Nicholson today, you would assume they are the same age. But as a matter of fact, Nicholson at 81, is 12 years older than Duvall!
Now you are asking, why does she look so old? Wendy Malick who is roughly her age looks quite attractive for a woman her age, Duvall by contrast looks like the Queen from Snow White in her witch form. The reason has to do with bone structure. Malick has a chiseled jawline and a larger mandible than Duvall. Actors with more pronounced jawlines in general tent to look younger, Just look at William Shatner!
So unless you want to look like Emperor Palpatine when youre old, I suggest you consult an orthodontist. You might also want to take a look at Orthotopics and Dr. Mew.

I finally got around to watching this movie. I am a big READY PLAYER ONE fan so I was even more curious about it. Although I wasn't blown away by the movie, it really makes me curious about the book now. I feel like this would be a really good book. When it comes to references, it really fills in a lot of gaps for me. I always wondered where that Here's Johnny! scene came from, among others.

I finally got around to watching this movie. I am a big READY PLAYER ONE fan so I was even more curious about it. Although I wasn't blown away by the movie, it really makes me curious about the book now. I feel like this would be a really good book. There is a movie mistake which I did not see till much later when Town has taken over Danny's body in the hotel. He calls Wendy Mrs Torrance yet later on Tony refers to her as Mom. I know something not right about that in fact quite a lot of things wrong with the movie. If you look closley you'll see the many things unchecked the first time they happened.

I think theres really no way of getting a direct answer from this kind of movie. This is one of cinema's most mysterious movies and it's too much for even 1000 human brains to figure out what was happening in Kubrick's head while he was making this haunting film. It will always be a mystery no matter how much you try or beg Kubrick for the answer.

Halaran and Danny have the 'Shining' which is just like the children of Derry in It and guess what? The monster can alter pictures like the ones in the book of the library scene. And the picture of the Overlook Hotel is also altered. The thing that persuedes Jack into murder is just like the thing that persuedes the bully in It.

I prefer the idea that as far as the Overlook Hotel is concerned, Jack is and always has been the caretaker. Other people can have their understanding of Jack and his life, but it doesn't make a difference to the Overlook. As soon as he died on the hotel grounds he was trapped; he belonged to the hotel and the hotel belonged to him.

If the hotel is haunted why isn't there a murder every year? If the hotel is just haunted what is the point of the shining just a side idea that has no point? I thought only danny could see the past, so it was his own little haunted house experience and his dad was just stir crazy

Checked the date of 1971 4th July: a couple of interesting personalities died that day: 1) August Derleth (weird fiction/ Lovecraft publisher )t; 2) Maurice Bowra (literary critic/ Oxford academic) t NO GOOD for the year 1921, mirroring seems to work better if one digs deep.
