Gilly Might Be The Most Important Character In Game Of Thrones fanjoy: Jon would actually be a bastard. Why? Annulments are for couples who are married less than a year. If a man has been married for years producing children he can't be granted an annulment. Jon would still be a bastard. Why? Because Rhaeghar was a bigamist he was married to Elia Martell. He did not divorce her. A proper divorce is what he would need. A married man would do a ceremony in secret. A single man would announce to the world his intentions to divorce. Rhaeghar was a shady character. It would have made a lot more sense if Lyanna were simply Rhaeghar's mistress. A common thing among royals and nobles. Dorne would have a lot to say about a divorce from Elia. The Targaryens could not have two wives. Jon would still be a bastard. Targaryens did pass thrones to females as did the Old Valerians. D & D stepped into some mess with this plot armor for Jon.

Gilly is the most underrated and underused character on Game of Thrones. I don't know why so many fans dislike her having screen time.
She is always giving Sam good advice which he ignores, and then he pays the price for it (she tells him he should be practicing his swordfighting, which he ignores, then gets the crap beaten out of him by the other Brothers of the Night's Watch who try to rape her. She learned to read as an adult with Shireen's help, and is the one who discovered the biggest secret in the Seven Kingdoms, which Sam got credit for. If the Show Runners don't disappoint us yet again (and there's no indication they won't, she will once again come through with a heroic act or a new discovery that Sam, of course, will take the credit for.

Wouldn't be surprised if she is some descendant of the children. Plus she noticed the giant bomb about John's parents getting married and him being the rightful heir, Brandon might see that, but they know where the proof exists. She's not as silly as she often seems. Her being more unnoticeable might be the reason she survives with this knowledge. And i wouldn't be surprised if somehow shen ends up in the company of John and Denny, maybe as they fall back from the Wall and end up in Winterfell, and she then blurbs out they shouldn't have relations when they them being too close and tells them it's because they're bro and sis, and him being the rightful heir, which will most likely not go over well with Denny.

I dont believe the citadel would issue an annulment to Rhaegar when he and Elia had two children together. I believe that a Septon would marry Rhaegar and Lyanna because there is precedence in the conqueror having two wives and also Maegor the cruel having 6 wives, but no precedence for annulling a marriage in which two children were born and the husband lived with his wife. Idk, that whole annulment and marrying lyanna sounds like fan fiction. She probably married him in front of a heart tree and without a Septon anyways

This is one of the most misleading video titles I've ever seen on YouTube. So the 577th most important character in the show may actually be the first most important character because. she's traveled a lot, has interacted with many main characters, and is involved with many plots. Only problem with this is main characters 1-500 also fit this description. Not a hard description to meet.

I don't think there's any Game of Thrones episode I find boring or uninteresting but every time I see Gilly I feel like skipping the next 10 minutes. Especially when she's talking to Sam about nothing. It's like. Jon is getting ready to fight Godzilla and King Kong in the middle of King's Landing and then they cut to Gilly and Sam talk about the weather. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

I really think Gilly and little Sam will prove to be the SHOCKER twist for the ending Emilia spoke of. It could be little Sam is more then just Crasner's son, I'd be guessing if I made a prediction, but I think the Nightking is after little Sam, and possibly Gilly. The reason I think this, is GOT is not a romantic drama, or a medieval soap opera, it's brutal with many twists.

MOST important character? You're reaching. She made little contributions here and there. But most though! Bran is the freaking 3-eyed Raven, Dany abolished slavery, conquered or liberated cities and such, and Jon might very well be the song of ice and fire, the freaking title of the books. And you're talking about Gilly as the most important character! I'm out.

You know, thats kinda bull shit. The only reason she can read it is cause Sam transcribed it and made it legible. When he tells Bran he says that he transcribed it and thats how he knew, and if you watch the scene youd know its impossible for him to have learned it from Gilly cause he was too busy complaining about how other men never listen to him.

Don't think she would be a competent guide beyond the wall. She might have personal experience with the walkers, but she could have used that information already.
And she has never been outside the perimeters of Crasters farm. She could show them the in and outs of his house, but that isn't much, is it?
