The Untold Truth Of Shazam! hydrolito: Captain Marvel was more a rip off of Flash Gordon and Popeye but saying Shazam instead of eating spinach for power which was temporary. Flash Gordon wore a mostly red electricians outfit in story titled the powermen of Mongo in 1939. It had yellow belt, yellow boots and yellow lightning bolt symbol it also had yellow gloves which Captain Marvel replaced with yellow armbands. It also had a red helmet and yellow googles which Captain Marvel did not copy however Barry Allen version of Flash wore and even more similar costume of that of Flash Gordon. Also Flash Gordon encountered talking lion man while Captain Marvel meet a talking Tigerman. Flash Gordon encountered Hawkmen in 1935. Flash Comic number 1 in 1940 not only had the Flash in it but also Hawkman so both names Flash and Hawkman copied from Flash Gordon and Hawkmen. Barry Allen also copied Captain Marvels origin getting his power from a bolt of lightning although they also added chemicals and later explained that lightning was caused by a guy called moppie or mobbie or whatever it was sort of DC version of Shazam the wizard in Captain Marvel origin. Wonder Woman also copied Captain Marveel with powers of Gods and Goddesses replacing Shazam and Captain Marvel's Gods and heroes. Flash Gordon also encourted an underwater sea before either Submariner 1939 Marvel Comic #1 or Aquaman appeared in 194. Flash Gordon met sharkmen Which Submariner battled villian called Tiger Shark, The Black Hawks, Aquaman and Flash also encountered a villain called the Shark.

DC didn't originate Superman. Don juan was called Superman in a play titled Man and Superman in 1903. Ubermench was translated as Superman in 1907 or maybe it was 1909 not sure the exact date. Tarzan was called Superman by Jane in Tarzan of the apes in 1912. Doc Savage was called Superman in 1934, he was also Clark Savage, Jr. had an Fortress of Solitude in the Artic before the later Action comic Superman of 1938 that was also called Clark. Doc Savage was called The man of Bronze and Steel Sterling was called the man of Steel before Action Comics Superman was called man of Steel. So was Superman's man of steel inspired by man of bronze or man of steel either way Action Comics Superman was a copy.

I do worry about the Black Adam movie. Not because it's a DC movie, but because while Shazam is a light hearted take on the superhero movie (which works for it. Black Adam is a more antihero type of character, kind of like a character that would appear in bleaker story lines (like the DC movies people didn't like. I just don't think he should be funny, but people will say oh, DC is getting bleak and humorless again. But that's kinda what Black Adam does. Don't get me wrong I want Black Adam to be awesome, but maybe it can capture the gritty feel of Wonder Woman and keep the heart as well.

As an older fan of the 'Detective'Comics, I'm very familiar with the character'SHAZAM'or'CAPTAIN MARVEL'. My observation of the recent making of the movie'SHAZAM' doesn't reflect the general sentiment of a good to great movie. The movie casts the the main theme out of character of the comic series, and it fails in making the hero credible by making him comical - notice the prosthetics of the actor paying the role of'SHAZAM'. absolutely terrible. This is about as bad as the making of the movie'THE GREEN HORNET'which casted Seth Rogan as the hero. TERRIBLE, VERY TERRIBLE.

A fictional mortal adolescent boy with a pure heart transforms into an adult-looking but super powerful champion with super abilities from Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury.
Seriously, this generation's WB media company plus Geoff Johns better give Billy Batson from DC's Earth-0 a DECENT character development and several big moments in the future.

Just doesnt seem right. DC had a Captain Marvel FIRST, regardless of the fact they discontinued it for some year, Marvel should NOT have been allowed to steal the name, particularly since there were already DC Captain Marvel comics out there, should have been considered owned by DC and untouchable as far as Marvel was concerned. Its just theft made legal IMO.

Everyone seems to gloss over the work of artist Pete Constanza, who also drew Captain Marvel for Whiz, America's Best Comics, Marvel Family and Adventures of Captain Marvel. Pete first worked with Beck, until the workload was too much, so he broke off from Beck to open his own shop, where then Pete hired Kurt Schaffenberger to also help out with the workload.

I found it kinda odd how Dr. Savanna (or however you spell it) was considered Shazam's arch-nemesis instead of Black Adam (who could be considered more of an anti-hero) I mean, the dude was just an evil scientist.
Then it hit me, the age-old debate of magic vs science. Idk, just fun fact i guess.

SO. if someone else does the same thing you do, but better, you sue them for all they have.
A logical and intelligent human would instead see what that other one is doing that is better, learn from it, and make it even better again.
But, then again, you humans are not very intelligent or logical.

You didn't mention Marvels black Captain Marvel member of The Avengers an occasional leader Monica rambeau.
Marvel Comics also had a briefly lived character called Captain Hero ( a boy who could transform himself into a Superman of sorts ) who was pretty much a double for Shazam
