Empathy plays such a big role in this film, the way the people cry or scream together or when they tried to calm Dani, they cry with her. The only person that had no empathy for her was Christian. Ironically in the end he got to experience a more physical sense of empathy for Dani, he was burning alive while everything was falling around him and he was immobile and unable to express his pain, which is what he made Dani feel throughout the entire film, her world was falling apart but she wasnt able to express herself around him because of how much she feels guilty for burdening him. And now he knows what she feels. A tragic way to learn empathy but it is beautiful

the cult and the graphic death scenes are terrifying but the most scary thing in this movie is the relationship between Dani and Christian. Like, imagine having a long-term bf for 4 years and ur always scared you will annoy him with ur problems and anxieties and it ends up being true and he was pulling up with it for over 1 year and considering dumping you for over a year, but he's too much of a coward to do it. Imagine thinking someone loves you when in reality he talks about you the way Christian talks about Dani with his friends. Horrifying.

She cant possible be happy with that cult though. Yes, by the end she is practically psychotic and has had so many emotional breakdowns, but shes stuck in a foreign country with weird people who drug and manipulate her. She cant escape and she will have to throw herself off a cliff by the age of 72. She cant possibly have gotten over the grief of losing her family either. I think its a really sad ending.

I've seen and heard a lot of analyses stating that Christian was callous and deserved what he got for cheating on Dani, but I felt so sorry for him at the end. I also don't think he cheated on Dani; the dude was bewitched, drugged up, and lured into a mating ritual. If anything, he was assaulted. I definitely don't think he deserved his fate.

Hereditary is sold in 4K blu-ray and shares the same director of Midsommar. A movie like Midsommar with its vibrant bright permeating color demands to be presented in the medium which offers the best color and resolution which is 4K blu-ray. Why is Midsommar not sold particularly to the U. S. and Canada market in 4K blu-ray?

How can people be okay with this whole Dani feels empowered rhetoric! She got her boyfriend killed. That doesnt seem like equal measure to me. Its just wrong, just like this movie. Some of the things Ive seen is just utterly disturbing, this director is a very weird man for thinking of that script.

What about the recurrent imagery of Dani becoming a tree/plant? And what was the significance of her family dying? (Maybe it was a reason for her to become part of the Swedish family. She had nothing to return to. She had no reason to hold onto anything from her life in America)

great analysis - but the narrator clearly didnt even see the movie - mispronouncing important words including Midsommar, Pelle and Harga. The way she pronounced Midsommar incorrectly over and over was particularly irritating and frustrating.

Shit movie for me. The girl was cute though thats what kept me watching and the eagle spread plus the jump off the cliff was nice. But thats about it, so slow and doesnt build up. Awesome cinametography though and film set location.
