A combination of Martin Scorsese, the script, Pacino, De Niro and a massive paycheck. Anything less than all of those factors and he'd easily still be retired. The huge paycheck was probably the factor that got him to read the script, everything else helped to seal the deal.

Who wouldn't come out of retirement when Scorsese is calling. Except for Cousin Vinnie and Goodfellows and Casino he could show is acting chops. I read he doesn't like acting. Pesci got cheated for his acting in Raging Bull. I think he respects Scorsese and will behave.

Saw the movie. No biggie. Just another mob movie. Seen one seen them all. Nothing new. Dont waste your money. The only people that get ahead are the actors. They make millions from the suckers who go to see movies like this. Good luck

With Hollywood's insanity, why would you want to jump back in?
Plus why add to your brand of being a typecast mobster? A one-note wonder. At least in this movie, he's more muted and experienced and IMO, more terrifying.

I think Pesci looks more like Hoffa than Pacino does, but I'm sure this will be a solid film regardless I'm looking forward to it even though I don't believe Frank Sheeran's claim he killed Hoffa

Movie wasn't that good. Pesci acted like Pesci nothing special. Directing was weak and so was the script. All these guys are past their prime and lame.
