5 Best And 5 Worst Live Action Movie Draculas
video description
So if we're just looking at the character of Dracula alone, Leslie Nielsen actually had a good menacing presence when he was playing it straight. He went back and forth from being ridiculous to being serious, so in order to fairly compare his Dracula with the others, I think we should just look at the moments when he was serious. In those scenes, he had a good presence and charm, which could make the transition to intimidating and menacing with relative ease. At the time, I found myself thinking I'd like to see him make a real go at playing Dracula in a serious film. In the very least, I don't think he deserves being called one of the worst Draculas in film when being compared solely to actual dramatic roles.

You touched on a lot of my favorites!
I agree, Peter Cushing is a premier Van Helsing. Indeed, Horror is one of my favorites.
Edward Van Sloan had some great moments of machismo in his own right.
I was so excited for the Masterpiece Theater one because David Suchet was the Doctor. Then he's missing for most of it amidst all that other weirdness.
Nosferatu!

I like how Nosferatu (Max Srheck) was so high in this list, but as so many before me have already asked, what happened to Gary Oldman as Dracula? He was great in the 1992 movie!
By the way, I think Luke Evans was great as the real-fictional Dracula (another movie missing here, even if the film was really bad.
Anyway, cheers.

My favorite movie Draculas are Frank Langella, Gary Oldman, Gerard Butler, Klaus Kinski and this may not count as a movie version of Dracula and is a 1977 BBC take on the novel, but my last favorite Dracula is Louis Jordan. I liked Dracula 2000 and would love to see the Spanish version of Dracula someday.

Sorry, gotta defend Dracula 3D.
It is so bad, its good. You WILL enjoy it if you watch it. But outside of that, Thomas Kretschmanns Dracula performance is unironically good. In another movie wouldve been considered great.

I liked Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula a lot. It's become a favorite of mine with Nosferatu, Dracula (with Christopher Lee, and Bram Stoker's Dracula (with Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, and Anthony Hopkins.

Putting Dracula Dead and Loving It on this list is really unfair. It's a parody it's supposed to be a bad reinterpretation of the original. You tell me that She's Nosferatu She's Italian? bit doesn't leave you in stitches?

There was also a Purple playhouse Dracula which is hard to come by cheaply made but its quite close to the novel. Also a 1968 mini version that starred Denholm Deliot as the count.

Have you heard either of the musical versions of Dracula? One adheres more towards the book, while the other seems to follow closer to the Gary Oldman movie.

You get a thumbs down for not putting the Langella and Oldman versions on the list. Easily better than Nosferatu or the old Spanish version! For shame!
