So I was born in 2002 and I used to watch the muppet show when I was little. My mom was a huge fan when she was a kid and got the box set of the muppet show. Anyways my favorite guest star appearance as a kid (and still is) was Alice Copper. Me being a child I had no clue who he really was other then he was a musician. So when the question popped up about who my favorite musician was I would always say Alice Copper. this is coming from a six year old. Youve never seen a face go from smiling to horrified so fast lol.

How could you make this video and NOT reference Janise's running gag about being nude in several of the muppet movies!
muppets all shouting at once then suddenly go quiet
Janice: .and I said Mom! If I wanna run naked on a beach it's my life.
same setup, sudden quiet
Janice: .I told him. I don't pose nude for anyone. Even if it is artistic.
HAHAHAHA

I watched the muppet movie last month. The Hari Krishna cracked me up every time. Never got it as a kid. Nor the presbyterian one either as a kid but it cracked me up later. But even as a kid I got the feeling as was being treated as an adult more so than with most things then, even if I couldn't appreciate or fully get it.

Jim Henson once said of his shows, he didn't want to dumb them down. Most kids pick up on things more often than most people realise. It's likely one reason why all Henson productions were hits. I loved the Muppets as a kid in the 80s, same with Fraggle Rock. Dark crystal, Labyrinth etc. He was a genius!

Produced in the UK and aired in the US during the Prime Time block, The Muppet Show was intended to reach both the younger and older viewers. Don't make the mistake of comparing The Muppet Show to Sesame Street. Henson later established Henson Alt for entertainment directed to an older audience.

I was in my late teens when this was on TV and I got most of the jokes and references. I really enjoyed the show and gladly took flack from some of my friends for watching a kids show. Most of the time I didnt even bother trying to convince them it was cool.

Janice IS Mary Travers from Peter Paul and Mary. Her look and mannerisms were the same. Watch just a few videos of Peter Paul and Mary and you'll never see Janice any other way. Always has been and always will be. Janice is not a composite of other singers.

I was kid back in the seventies. we werent born under rocks. nothing you shared left us perplexed. from Electric Mayhem to Vincent Price and Dr. Strange Love. Most of these people were either pop icons of the day or late show legends.

Uh, the Muppets was an adult show from the start. The reason people started thinking of them as for kids is because of Jim Henson's later work on Sesame Street. And for the record, I got plenty of these references as a kid.
