Just to say Im afraid, doctor who is not fantastic to start watching. Not at all. If you want doctor who start from series 1 and end it at series 10. Series 1-5 is the best with day of the doctor and series 8 and numerous Christmas events. Also watch Torchwood and Sarah Jane and ignore at all costs series 11+. Consider it as non canon if you say.

Fun fact that some might not know: Clara was definitely not the first person to say 'smaller on the outside'. I can't remember the name of who did, but I think it was a scientist? Again, I might be mistaken with that
