The Weird Character Change That Still Bothers NCIS Fans mythsis: That's not even where I thought this video was going. Voice doesnt change who McGee is. The acting and writing changes the character. Smoking changes the larynx that changes the voice. Old smokers have raspy voices, it's been known by most ppl for years, but I get why younger ppl dont understand it, as smoking is becoming nonexistent. But he's my take on your title, Pauley changed abby in the last 2 seasons she was on, because of the issues with the show she had. Abby would never have left ncis, in 14 seasons all abby ever worried about was her family, the characters in the show, and them not leaving, breaking up the family. Abby would never have stood across the street from Gibbs and waved. She would have cried her eyes out in a massive hug. But because Pauley didnt want any scenes with mark, they let her kill abby in my mind. Do I miss abby? Yes, and no, because that abby wasnt the stronge character I loved, that abby died in the alley as far as I am concerned.

New cast since tonys departure doesn't really work well. Im behind about a season still but from what i jave seen the girl that was there on the season after tony left was off. Cant even remember her name. The mi6 guy iI loved. Will miss him as hes gone now to. The remaining guy i just cant take him seriously. Dude sounds like fez. and it not believable as a bad ass. Guess we stuck with him now hopefully he grows on me. But main cast wise i never had an issue liking them to these last few seasons. The team in tonys last episode when we found out as bout his daughter would have been my pick. Still kove the show just bugs me i have to try to like the cadt rather then it just happen.

I think it was a combination of him loosing weight AND him getting older. He was a little too skinny and he did need to gain some of it back, but I hope he doesn't gain too much more weight. I noticed the change in his voice the very first time he spoke in that 1st episode after his weight loss. And I definitely noticed that he had lost weight, my husband noticed also. I love the show and though I still miss Abby, I do watch it every week.

He's sick. Not sure why a cover story is necessary, but anyone who thinks he's healthier now is nuts. When this change first happened, there were scenes where he was nearly inaudible. It's pretty obvious something is not right with him. I've never seen a show push the he's so healthy now line harder than this show has. Makes me even more sure that one day they'll come out with the truth. In the meantime, it's a TV show.

McGee was not in the series from the get go--he popped up in episode 7 of season 1 and did not come on full time till a few episodes later. Originally it was Jessica Steen who was supposed to become the third agent but she was shooting pilots in both the US and Canada and was hoping to be on a show from the get go. And she was in talks to do one of the SG1 spin offs but that fell trhough for unknown reasons

If you want to see real character changes go back and watch season 1 again.
Gibbs: cracks jokes, laughs fairly regularly, and actually communicates with the team.
Tony: dresses really casually, and has no movie trivia at all (in fact, I'm have way through the season and Gibbs is making all the movie references.
Abby: has a gruff voice and makes jokes that would make her later character blush.

I have not re watched the show season by season in a while. I thought the change in Magee happened after he was stationed in Canada. That was when the weight loss was first noticeable. One could pick out a lot of character development reasons why his voice changed. Like the actors the characters also have to develop in the show. So the change in voice was not really that drastic nor out of no where.

When you quit smoking, it does alter your voice. I didn't realize it till someone told me some time ago. They met me as smoker then I quit and we didn't see each other for a couple of years. I bumped into him and he was astonished as to the change in my voice tone. He thought I'd been seeing a voice coach or had throat surgery.

People age. It means they change. When I was in my twenties, I was a skinny redhead housewife. Now Im in my forties, Im a chunky career woman with purple hair. Everything about me has changed in those 20 years, my voice, my hobbies, my politics, even my accent.

The other changes of cast on the show are definitely annoying. Adding another quirky lab tech (to replace Abby) was a bad choice. Trying too hard to be quirky. Should have stopped before losing Tony. Show is burning out and I find it hard to care about any of them.
