Because of its grown-up characters, themes, and complex mythology, 1999's The Mummy provides plenty of moments that adults will be thinking about long after the kids in the room have moved on to the next thing.
In the film's prologue, the Medjai warrior Ardeth Bay explains that Anck-Su-Namun was the Pharaoh s mistress, and it was forbidden for any other man to touch her. To make this point, Anck-Su-Namun wore very little clothes, and was instead covered in an elaborate body paint design that ran over most of her body. When her secret lover, the high priest Imhotep, touched her in a moment of passion, he smeared the paint. It's that smudge that reveals her betrayal to the Pharaoh. Date: 2020-10-03
