I think that there were a few reasons why the general, typical moviegoing audience was not flattered by Nope. Looking at Jordan Peele s legacy in Hollywood, it s no surprise that some fans were going to be underwhelmed by the lack of jump scare and other crowd-pleasing elements most horror movies deliver these days. Nope s thought-provoking meta and introspective nature was ultimately underwhelming for fans and I get that. However, the movie was good and serves a great social commentary on Hollywood, much like Joker was for the social world we live in.

Jordan Peele is such a ridiculously overrated director he has made arguably one good movie and they are all based around or partially based around racism I don't know what happened to this guy's funny bone he used to be a pretty funny back in the day but than he became overly focused on race and now he just sucks.

Movie was good. not great but good. The movie felt too ambitious for its own good
Everyone is starting to treat Jordan Peele like he's a modern Hitchcock or Carpenter but he's not. idk just my opinion

Because he is black, the critics won't criticize him.
Hence the movies are overrated and true fans of cinema are disappointed if they watch.
