It doesn't fit in LoTR at all. It's highly inaccurate and thus disrespectful of it's source material and of it's fans.
Hopefully it will be cancelled before season 2 airs. They either make a show based on the books, or make no show at all. Inspired by JRR Tolkien doesn't mean anything because everything in the fantasy genre is inspired by JRR Tolkien.

It doesn t, because it s not Tolkien and they have no rights to LOTR. Large aspects of this show contradict tolkiens timeline, thus are not cannon.
