I don t think it s Gandalf. I think it s a prototype of a wizard of what s to come in the future. He may be the first that may turn evil and side with Sauron or die off helping middle earth during the series.

Great pieces of screenwriting in this series! Like Do you know why a boat floats, and a stone sinks? Because the boat looks up and the stone looks down. Mind = blown. Even Tolkien could not have done better.

If they shoehorn Gandalf in, I ll instantly lose interest in the show because he doesn t show up in middle earth for at least a thousand years from this point in the story if not further away than that
