I think it's not a bad casting, but a bad character development. Gomez requires a lot of physical comedy, dance skills, choreography and sword fighting that could well be done by a stuntman. Morticia I think it's ok (I can't be objective with Catherine Z-J, Well, he's always been my celebrity crush, but I didn't see anything wrong with his acting, more in his dialogues. As for Pugsley, they were able to make him blonde as always, since his ancestor (Goody Addams, she was a blonde girl; the appearance of Pugsley was a major contrast in her family. In short, the failures that this good series could have are the fault of the main creatives, not because of the quality and aptitude of the actors, or the casting directors.

I may change my mind and, I've only watched 2 episodes, however I think this show is like a mash-up of Harry Potter (school, popularity, not fitting in, sports against the popular and non-popular, haughty school workers, mysterious school, etc) and Twilight (regular type falling for a non-type human, conflict between two romantic interests, absent parents, one parent a cop, smallish town that doesn't like outsiders, etc) At least with The Addams Family movies we had fresh themes.

I would be OK with Tish, but Gomez just doesn't have that spark and comes across as somewhat dull. He seemed kind of lacking, not only was there no chemistry between them, it felt like he could not bring the role to life. Now, Uncle Fester, I was pleasantly surprised fit perfectly into his character. I would have loved to have seen the old gomez and maybe a new Tish.

Sooo. I thought a lot of people are complaining that Wednesday was a caricucature and unrealistic? Now they want Gomez and Morticia to be the exaggerated, live action cartoons that was Julia and Houston. Some people just want to complain at. anything and everything.

Bring Anjelica Huston back for season two in a serious role she could play the new head master of Nevermore. Cathrine Zeta Jones can stay but please get rid of Luis Guzman and swap him for Antonio Banderas.

As a lifelong fan of The Addams Family I was skeptical also about the casting of Zeta-Jones and Guzman. at first. But when all is said and done, they were adequate, and really. the show isn't about them!

Don't think is bad casting, just bad specific writing for both characters. I like the show and would not mind a second season having more of the Addams Family itself.

I feel they gave Morticia everything, and they took the fencing from Gomez and didn't give him something else. Casting wise, I'm still not sure.
