I want an unbiased statement about this hoopla surrounding it, I do find it critical that Disney is remastering old Disney films because they have simply ran out of ideas. so remake them all but what is all this talk about her being black, I'm more bothered by the Idea of the Disney keeps recycling their old iconic films and remaking them into live action

Sadly the race part is what seems to upset so many. I was hoping for a new animation but I'm in my 50's and I don't think this movie was made for me.

I remember an animated version (not disney) that aired on nickelodeon in the 80's. I believe it was much closer to Hans Christian Anderson's version. I remember an ending scene her sister's give her a knife, but not what she did with it

the original Little Mermaid, the one before the one many of us are familiar with, showed Ariel dying at the end. Disney changed that because a lot of kids cried.
