The Real Reason They Don't Say 'Zombie' On The Walking Dead Davidb5x: It's actually an almost universal unwritten rule in the zombie horror genre that's derived from the success of Romero's movies that people have never heard of zombies or know their strengths and weaknesses before an outbreak occurs. It's necessary so that people don't immediately just aim for heads right away, that knowledge has to be earned the hard way.

I could be wrong, seeing as im still reading compendium 1 (issues 1-48) but this video seems to apply more to the show than the comics. At one point Rick says that they have defaulted to calling them zombies. And almost every time they are referred to, it's as zombies in the comics.

Jokes on you, I call them dead people humans that arent really dead but theyre are actually pretty much dead but still can walk on land meaning that they have a brain which also means theyre alive but just dead walking people that used to be alive and can do various activities

Season 1 or 2 involved them all surviving against the Walking Dead, but since then it seems the dead are easy to survive against compared to their Living enemies. I'm still a fan, but it's getting more difficult. They're really starting to Jump the Shark.

I'll save you the time, Kirkman said that they live in a universe where zombies and the term zombie was never invented, therefore the dead coming back to life is a totally original thing in TWD universe. That's pretty much it

Its possible that the original Voodoo zombie exists in the lexicon of their world, which makes it an appropriate nickname for the dead if used, without making it break the rules because its not a reference to post-Romero zombies

That is about a lame excuse, whether the prior Romero movies had every come out the old lore is still there. Its just lazy writing, and justifies the line in zombieland double tap, This is horrific, but very unrealistic.

Because it is not grounded on reality and they can do anything with it. In reality, people get sick when exposed to rotting corpses, they have limited ammo and they don't keep a bloody tiger as a pet.

Curiously spanish subtitles (at least in LATAM) do not translate them as caminantes, as it should, they write zombies. small mistake from the hired company that makes the translation.

The word zombies is never used in DAYS GONE, either. Maybe the particular word doesn't exist in the game's world, either.
