Could they be the most famous weapon in all of sci-fi? Lightsabers have been involved in some iconic scenes in film and TV history and they make absolutely no sense.

The explanation is a lot simpler. With absolutely no irony meant, Star Wars is not science fiction, it is fantasy. While visually depicted as science fiction, every reality in the movies follow the rules of standard fantasy. Once you understand and accept that, everything else falls into place. I love the films, so don't get me wrong, but it's not science fiction, it's fantasy. Wonderful creatures and magic powers and the list goes on.

As canon: You would actually build your own lightsaber. Making every lightsaber unique and having different capabilities.
Physics are not the same on every planet in the star wars universe. What a bad attempt to point out flaws in something you obviously have zero knowledge on.

Come on which tard at looper thought making this video was a good idea. You get worse. It's a made up item using crystals which don't exist in real life. Hence you can't make it in real life, or say oh it must be plasma e. t. c e. t. c

Couple more lightsaber issues:
- The users should wear Kevlar gloves
- Easy way to defeat opponent, hit the opponent s lightsaber handle. This will shut it down, then simply kill the unarmed opponent.

You can turn a lightsaber on and off with a switch so why isn't that being used in duels? Sneaking past a block or strike by turning off your lightsaber opens a ton of opportunities to kill your opponent.

If they had said the lightsaber was focused force power from the Jedi handling it, it would have saved many issues. As it is. It makes no sense as a plasma blade with infinite cutting power.

Erm, it's science fiction, you know, fiction, as in not real, so no explanation is really needed. Plus, it's not set on earth is it, hmmm

Trying to make sense out of something that a person invented in their head & does not really exist is in it self nonsense
