to be honest I thought to the bone was actually really good and it wasn't triggering at all, its just brought light to the situation because anorexia (food disorders) is a topic that people normally don't talk about, they feel uncomfortable talking about it but to the Bone is completely different, I feel that if people watched it about then they'll understand and Alexia more and they will try to see what the person is going through because a person don't just wake up one morning said I want to be anorexic they always have to have a reason Ellen she had a reason to be anorexic and she knew it was bad but she did it anyway and and for the people who saying that 13 Reasons Why is triggering it's really not, 13 Reasons Why is basically about a girl who got bullied in school and got rumors spread around school and they did the show based on the Viewpoint of her and the Viewpoint of all the 13 Reasons Why characters and they basically pointing out the topic of bullying and how it affects people family friends and and some people just don't understand how important bullying and anorexia is really is until they lose someone to it then they want to say something
(I'm just speaking my mind plz don't get mad-_-)

The only problem I had with this movie is I felt in some degrees it was too well done with making you feel like the character. With something like 13 reasons why; it was from another character's perspective and didn't really go into the real thoughts going through her brain, just the events and explaining what happened. You'd think going through the thoughts would be good would add an understanding; which it is. But it kinda just scared me, I mean I have never thought about what I eat and my weight, I've always been skinny and i run so I've always been healthy. But when she said stuff like once I start eating I'm scared I'm never gonna stop it scared me, I had never thought about that and then i started to think about it. And while I don't think I'm gonna contract a eating disorder, i don't know it just put that thought in my mind.

I think its a great movie for people who don't have eating disorders to watch. If you struggle with one, it can be triggering, but it can really show how an eating disorder can ruin someones life to someone unfamiliar with them. I understand that there is backlash against it, but isn't there a huge desire for mental health to be represented in the media? so why then are people so quick to criticize? I think a lot of the movie is a pretty accurate portrayal of an eating disorder, and if someone disagrees, it is so important to remember that EVERYONES STRUGGLES ARE DIFFERENT.

why every sensitive topic that is made into a movie (suicide, anorexia, bulimia, bullying, etc) always gets accused of being glorified? can't a movie be made for entertainment but at the same time raising awareness in how these things can happen? it's frustrating how every movie gets criticised from sensitive ass people.
update: I've just seen the movie a couple days ago, and let me say it was so inspirational that no one is gonna make you change but you. I really loved it 100% and definitely had me crying especially on one scene with Ellen and her biological mom.

I hate that now every movie / show that is about any sensitive topic is labeled as romanticizing it or glorifying the subject and people say it is wrong. I know that some issues might trigger some people but come on, movies and tv shows have every right to talk about anything they want and social and health issues are the perfect thing to do because it creates awareness to the manner and can really help some people to understand it. If you feel so triggered by a movie or show, stay away from it. Plain and simple.

I saw it. it's nice movie. I liked the dream alot. that was the most realistic moment of the movie for me. however being in recovery for anorexia and bulimia for years now there were two things in this movie I found to be idea giving to those suffering. luckily I'm not in that sick a place anymore to do that but it made me think oh geez I would have done that if i was aware of it and I think of all the other boys and girls who are still very ill and may get these ideas and do them

This was a really good and intimate movie, there was one part in particular that I love, it's the one w the rice milk lol that part was definitely strange bc it catches u kinda off guard but it adds SO MUCH to the movie and really provides closure for both the viewer and the characters involved. It's a great movie about such a critical and ongoing practice that's occurring and if u have the time and maybe wanna cry a little definitely watch

I think to the bone is a excellent telling of a person with an eating disorder because instead of her going to the treatment center (forget what they call it) and being like oh you know what i am all better now! I can eat without feeling like shit they showed that getting over an eating disorder is a long and rough road and cant be fixed in one day

personally didn't find it too triggering. I'm weight restored and classified EDNOS now. it was the ending that troubled me actually. they'd gone from realistic depiction to filmy symbolism and that bothered me. I think it could have been tackled differently and been more effective. everyone will draw their own opinion. that's just me.

I don't think I will ever be able to watch this movie, and adding to the last part of this video I don't think it is a way to teach young girls into eating disorders, however, coming from someone who has suffered for 5 years with bulimia and anorexia, this movie and frankly the advertisement of this movie is triggering.

It's sad that people are quick to critize it for supposedly glorifying the topic. It's not glorifying anything, it's showing the reality of a topic. Same with the supposedly glorifying teen suicide 13 Reasons Why. People should look at it for what it is and not criticize it for what they think it's glorifying

Great movie that shows her, and others also suffering, seeking help. I question why this is on Ms Mojo? One of the best aspects of the film was that it showed a male character also struggling with an eating disorder without being offensively proud of their diversity.

For me, It motivated me in recovery. It doesnt romaniczies any eating disorder. It shows how DEADLY! it is. WHICH IS GOOD! Im glad! People DIE! from this. And Im so glad they showed how deadly it is, how it destroys families, along with the people who suffer from it.

If some people think this movie is romanticizing the illness, They need Therapy. there's nothing beautiful or remotely appealing about being sick and struggling to live a normal life and if some people think its cool they really are Sick in the Head.

I like the movie! But I thought that it was going to be a show, but the thing I don't like is the ending. They didn't show what happens to Ellen and Luke and everyone's relationship with Ellen when she comes back. Other wise it's a wonderful movie.

Damn if I were Lilly I would have had a full blown relapse! This is so triggering. As an anorexic person myself I can say that normal people would never see the potential trigger behind this movie.

People are so dumb, Ellen has so many problems in To the Bone. They're far from glorifying it. This movie shows you how terrible and dangerous eating disorders are

I consider Lilly Collins to be a beauty. I was concerned for her health when I saw clips of this film. I fear she got impractically immersed in this work.

Top fact: This was a completely unrealistic depiction of treatment for eating disorders and shouldn't be taken at face value.

It's ironic once you think about how much weight they made Collins lose in order to play this role.
