Thank you for the truth. Hugh Jackman is a great actor and a good soul to his family I'm sure. Although, it is not a documentary true but it is not right to show evil good especially when PT Barnum had never transformed his life. He never cared about other souls and exploited children and people to gain wealth. I'm glad the movie shows Hugh Jackman the way he is. Truth is PT Barnum was opposite and for that reason the movie is a complete lie. The song Rewrite the Stars has an a beautiful tune but it's lyrics is cursed with negatively impacted showing no hope, only if the words are written differently. It would be sung with great tune but words breathe life and death and those who sing this song is contradictory. Songs with negatively ending is just harmful to the tongue who sings it. Re write the song not the Stars! Thank God for this commentary I will definitely not recommended this movie just based on a depressed song lyrics it is showing no hope. People need to be inspired not to be smacked for a built up just to be smacked again. Hollywood songs like this. well, someone is not thinking with all their brain cells. Movie is based on lies, exploited innocent children, a hungry demonic money man who has no soul for human beings, Must of have abused animals too, A waste to completely waste your money to see someone who makes a mean man gain sympathy from an audience. Hugh Jackman an excellent actor better choice next time. We wish PT Barnum was Hugh Jackman but that is a complete lie. Why make evil good and good evil. blindness and deafness to the truth. Go ahead each to its own and every human being is given that right. Personally, I thank knowing truth. Those who want to watch fairy tales all their life is welcomed to do so. I understand and agree with what everyone was saying in these comments, in that this film is only inspired by historical events. However, one way that they could've accurately potrayed things that went on in history without taking away from the fentasy of the movie was the characters was in clothing (excluding the clothing of the performers when they are, well, performing. I am not well versed in clothing of the 19th century, but I know a little bit, and the clothing just looked a little off to me, especially in the Women's fashion. Im not trying to sound nit-picky or anything, and I genuinely enjoyed the movie, just some food for thought. Happy Boxing day and Kwanzaa, everyone.

Its probably okay to say they got pretty much everything wrong if they were actually attempting to be historically accurate. However even knowing that it wasnt historically accurate I still enjoyed it, and still do. One small note though, the line in the trailer that Barnum says to Phillip about show business wasnt even in the movie, and honestly I wish it had been because it was a great line.

Not a nice guy. Ok. Sorry but he paid every single person he had in his shows. Some of these people would have never had a chance in life. The short dude became one of the most famous and rich people of his time. He made money and people were happy to pay him. You can say what you want about his methods but this is the 1800s. Not cool to act like he was just evil either.

What about the use of animals in his circus? Barnum claimed to care about animals and wasnt 100% evil (no one/not many people are. However, the use of wild animals in circuses is no longer seen as acceptable by some, and can involve beating, whips, bullhooks and cages, in addition to forcing animals to perform unnatural tricks.

Also, P. T Barnum had FOUR daughters, not just two, Frances, Caroline, Pauline, and Helen. Frances, died before her 2nd birthday, so they should have Pauline as well as Caroline and Helen! and, YES! I know that its not supposed to be historically accurate, but they already added 2 of the daughters! Why not just add the last!

It is incredibly inaccurate; honestly, they could've just slapped on a different name in the lead role like PT Barnabas or PT Barnes and labeled it as historical fiction. Which it kind of is; it is a musical after all, not a biography. The cast and crew are not shy about admitting its inaccuracies and dramatizations.

Please, every movie that is based on a true story is not exactly the same as the story, there are always things that they change in the movie. Thats why its based on a true story. So yeah if you wanna know the real real story you have to read the original and not watch a movie and give critics after you saw it

Greatest showman is definitely one of my favorite movie musicals. I feel like its definitely important to look into the historical inspirations surrounding the characters but you cant be too critical about what creative liberties are taken in order to tell the story.

I am also appalled at the fact that they start singing at random points. oh wait, I'm not, because it's a movie. If they made it like a documentary it wouldn't have been as popular and the songs wouldn't work, it isn't supposed to be exactly like real life.

I'm not gonna lie, while I can see some of these changes as necessary for the film, I honestly wish they portrayed Barnum more accurately. It would've shown more on what he had to accomplish, and earn the title of The Greatest Showman

When the movie tells all the history, it would misery, chaos and deciphering content and give negatively outrun on a movie so kids it's not a Documentary, the movie was made just for entertainment and inspirational
